In total this update includes 115 static renders, 4 unique animations, and 16 different camera angles.
The main feature of this update is the new AnimationSystem. Previously all animations were mp4 videos with fixed playback speeds. This caused problems on some devices where the H264 codec failed to load which resulted in a black screen. There were also only a few speed presets and every loop had a visible pause at the end because the video restarted from the beginning.
Now animations are created directly in Unity. They use pure PNG frames instead of mp4 which removes codec issues and improves quality. The system now supports a smooth speed slider, multiple camera angles, and unique animations that can be unlocked with in-game points. Black screen issues and loop pauses should be gone completely. All older animations have been migrated to this new system.
NavigationSystem and CharacterSystem were rewritten. Bugs with characters appearing in the wrong rooms, disappearing, or teleporting between rooms should now be fixed. Favorite rooms were added and locked areas will gradually unlock as you progress through story events.
This was another crazy month. It was extremely difficult and I am completely exhausted but incredibly happy that the new AnimationSystem is finally working. This month had a huge amount of animation work, especially the 5-angle setup which I have never done before. Next I plan to add the player stat system and more unique animations you will be able to purchase.
