Howdy, folks!
We’ve just released a small update with a few fixes and improvements. Before the patch notes, we want to address something many players have been reporting regarding the Orujo rescue cave after talking to Jó.
We’ve received reports about a bug in the cave where players must rescue Orujo. Some players have experienced a strange behaviour inside that dungeon where they can't take the Orujo crate and leave.
Here’s the tricky part: In GB Studio, everything behaves exactly as intended by us. We’ve tried multiple playthrough variations (story-first, reputation-first, mixed paths…), but so far we haven’t been able to reproduce the issue internally.
What makes this even trickier is that many of the reports come from players using different emulators, and the behaviour suggests that certain emulators may not be fully compatible with the way GB Studio handles events. For the ROM version, we strongly recommend using Visual Boy Advance, where the bug has not appeared in our tests.
A few extremely rare cases were also reported on PC builds (we’re investigating these as well).
Working with a engine like GB Studio means we’re building a modern game for 30-year-old hardware logic. Most of the time, it behaves beautifully… but occasionally, exporting to ROM or PC can introduce a behavior that simply doesn’t exist inside the engine.
We’re actively chasing this down and treating it as a top priority. Thank you for your patience while we track this outlaw!
Minor QoL improvements
More fixes coming as we gather data and continue testing across emulators and builds.
We’ll keep riding after this issue until it’s fully resolved.
In the meantime, if you encounter the bug, feel free to share footage or emulator info, every clue helps us tighten the net.
Thanks for sticking with us on this dusty trail. Now grab your gear, pardners, and ride safe through the Alentejo. 🍷🌵
