Making fire in the rain, wind simulation, avoiding hypothermia, bug fixes

Dear all,

Updates since the last devlog message:  

  • A water-proof rock container can now be crafted. This should make it easier to create fires in the rain since tinder, sticks etc. can be kept dry. Tinder still has to be put in a fireplace before trying to light it but it will stay dry while the hand/bow drill is used.
  • Feather sticks have been added as an alternative type of tinder.
  • Items now have different "Tinder" quality levels, indicating how easy they are to ignite. Birch bark tinder is the best due to its resinous oils.
  • Non-combustible items are now heated up when stored in a fireplace. This makes it possible to heat up rocks which will help keep the character warm for a while after the fire dies.
  • Wielded items with a temperature above 60 C will be dropped. It is still possible to move hot items, e.g., with the grab or drag commands.
  • The temperature of foods/drinks now affects the body temperature; thus, drinking hot water/tea can help fight hypothermia. Too hot foods/drinks cannot be consumed.
  • Unless the character is dead tired, sleeping is no longer possible when hypothermic.
  • Wind speed is now reduced when the character is in/near forests or near elevated terrain blocking the wind (these effects stack). This can help reduce heat loss, meaning fewer calories burnt.
  • Added item descriptions to several menus, allowing you to see information about items to grab, wield, etc.

Bugs fixed since the last devlog message:

  • Missing freezing/unfreezing of biomes.
  • Crafted item would disappear when crafted inside a shelter that is too small.
  • Crafting of certain item types could not be resumed.
  • Trapping experience was not gained when setting up traps.
  • Mood was not simulated.
  • Wind speed was not updated properly - it hardly changed.
  • Certain building extensions could not be crafted.

For the next update: farming has been implemented but there is currently not much to plant. I plan to rectify this by adding (with some random chance) one or more crates with potatoes, carrots etc. near the player at the beginning of the Shipwrecked scenario. I imagine the character managed to salvage some cargo before abandoning ship.
