Episode 2, Woman of the Third Estate, is now live!

If you've been following the devblog, you'll know this has been coming for a while. Development for the section of story which became Episode 2 and the future Episode 3 was a bit troubled, and further complicated by real life concerns... we've a clear view from hereon out though, and don't expect to see a large gap between installments like this for a while.

Woman of the Third Estate primarily serves to introduce Imani, as well as flesh out a bit about the North, the Barghurs, and set the stage for Episode 3 and the Convoy's journey through the North. It's on the shorter end compared to either Episode 1 or Episode 3, with less opportunities for free roaming, but it comes packed with art and character context.

As a small aside, a few continuity fixes have been made from Episode 1. In general, we don't like to go back and change events players have already experienced - it's confusing for everyone - but occasionally we make oversights that warrant some correction. Some changes include:

  • “Licorice” has had a few years knocked off her age to better fit within the general timeline of the story.
  • Some of the travel times given throughout the first episode have been altered. (We did some math and realized that either Vestur was even smaller than we meant it to be, or those were some VERY fast horses… we're not strict about realistic travel times to begin with, but this was going too far.)
  • The major Quincy studied at VRMA is now a trait rather than a variable floating quietly in the background. Players loading saves from old versions of Episode 1 will automatically have their respective Major trait added when they reach Episode 2.

Some QoL fixes have been introduced as well:

  • The scrolling choice menu has been reworked to prioritize function more... it was a little buggy before. (If you still think it sucks, you can always change to the static choice menu in settings!)
  • There is now an option to change the display size of character portraits. I know, I know, it was criminal not to include this to begin with... my only defense is that responsive design is fickle to work with!
