Hey! Welcome to Axolotl Games.
After endless years of working on and off on games using Unity/Godot. I decided to break away from the traditional game engines and focus on making games for the "fun of programming", I have been pushing that to the back of my head for a long time listening to advice of "just make a game, don't make an engine". While that is very true for a lot of people (even for me in this case since I won't be making an engine), I have decided that a big joy for me when making games is to CODE. I want to code the systems and bang my head against the keyboard while I am figuring out why something isn't rendering correctly.
So fast forward and this is why this blog/itch.io page was born. I want to document my journey working on random silly games using Rust + Bevy Engine and document my headaches along the way.
Why Bevy? Well I wanted to learn a framework but I also wasn't 100% ready to jump into a framework such as Raylib or SDL just yet. Being a dad and already having limited time, I wanted to grab something that would allow me to work on a game "for the fun of programming" but also be able to have _some_ speed around it. Wanting to learn Rust for years (decade long Golang developer), I have picked Bevy Engine to work on a few projects that I'd like to share with you all!
I hope you decide to join me in this silly journey! See you next post
P.S I have a small project in the works that I hope to make a post about soon!
