Hey adventurers and code goblins! đź‘‹
Day 5 of actually writing these devblogs instead of just thinking “yeah I’ll do it tomorrow”. Let’s goooo!
Today was supposed to be pure coding, but the sprite sheet was staring at me with those cursed backwards weapon hands and awkward poses, so I dropped everything and fixed it. Current status: ~70% done. Swapped main-hand / off-hand positions so the player no longer swings like he’s never held a sword before, and cleaned up a ton of run/attack/idle frames. The character finally looks like he knows what he’s doing.
Somehow I still shipped actual gameplay features:
Behold, the new royal family of elemental murder blades:
The cool surprise: when you synthesize two Level 1 items now, there’s a 40% chance the result evolves into one of these four special bases instead of staying plain steel. Every single rolled affix transfers perfectly, and the new base can still be modified, exalted, cleansed—everything works exactly as before, just way prettier.
Also added one new prefix because I have no chill:
Next on the chopping block (tomorrow, actually): coding the real mechanics for Poison / Lightning / Fire / Frost swords. DoTs, shocks, burns, chills, slows—the full elemental package. Everything is prepped and ready.
