Improvements from the Terminal Micro Engine

Protocol Red
A browser game made in HTML5

Today I pushed a major expansion to the base Terminal Micro Engine, transforming it into the full experience behind PROTOCOL RED.

Here’s what was added on top of the vanilla engine:

Intro Overlay + Story Setup

A fullscreen narrative intro describing the player as the enemy, isolated in their room and driven by exhaustion and resentment toward the system.

New World State System

Four global dynamic variables:

  • GLOBAL ALERT

  • TRACE LEVEL

  • COUNTER-HACK

  • TENSION INDEX
All of them react to player actions and push toward different endings.

Faction Personalities & Reactions

Each target (government, corp, PMCs, labs) now has its own AI personality with unique reactions and escalation patterns.

Breaking News Feed

Live scrolling headlines reflecting how the world responds to each intrusion.

Expanded Intrusion Suite

Added seven advanced commands:
spoof_signal, inject_malware, disrupt_sat, forge_warning,
trigger_alarm, broadcast_fake_order, erase_trace

Extra Viewports

Additional static monitoring screens placed next to the main viewport, enhancing atmosphere and world feedback.

New Bypass Minigames & Variants

Bruteforce, DataScrubber, BinaryCipher, Alignment, plus more variations and procedural code generation.

Sound System (Enter, Error, Music)

Simple SFX for typing, errors, and a looping soundtrack with an ON/OFF button.

This update turns the original minimal engine into a fully reactive geopolitical infiltration simulator, where you are the anomaly destabilizing the world.
