Hello everyone!
Today I’m excited to officially launch the Early Access version of Pixel Planet Creator, a small but powerful tool designed to help artists and indie devs create pixel-art planets in 8-bit and 16-bit style.
This project started as a simple experiment in procedural noise and retro shading… and quickly grew into a full tool for generating animated planets, biomes, clouds, palettes, and high-quality pixel textures. Early Access is now live, and the app is completely FREE during this phase so anyone can try it, test it, and help shape the next steps.
The current version already offers a complete toolset:
8-bit / 16-bit pixel style
Customizable biomes and surface patterns
Multiple noise types
Rimlight & dithering options
Animated cloud layer (looping seamlessly)
Custom palettes
Motion direction toggle
Subtle atmospheric glow
Full control over colors for planet, biomes, clouds
Save/load presets (coming soon)
PNG export (custom resolution)
Sprite/Tileset-style planet frames
Starfield + nebula generator
Procedural color schemes
Clean looping animation
CRT\Retro overlay generator
I want to build Pixel Planet Creator with the community.
Your feedback will directly influence:
new cloud types
new biome presets
more noise variations
improved dithering controls
editor UI improvements
built-in texture packs
a mini painter/editor mode
more export options (tileset 64x64/96x96, full sheets, etc.)
This phase allows me to refine all tools while keeping the app free for early testers.
Here’s what I’m already working on:
⭐ More cloud layers & cloud motion options
⭐ Better tileset export + 3 sizes (including padding)
⭐ GIF export
⭐ Custom palette presets (save/load)
⭐ Ring system (like Saturn)
⭐ In-built painter for pixel-editing planets
⭐ In-built generators upgrade
