I am still a relatively new developer, and releasing software publicly is something I am learning as I go. This update focuses on strengthening core editor behavior, improving workflow clarity, and expanding the tools available during scene creation.
The asset library now synchronizes automatically with the active project folder. When a project is saved or opened, the dock loads backgrounds, sprites, videos, audio, and scripts directly from the project directory. The project scaffolder creates the appropriate subfolders so assets remain organized without manual sorting.
Scene-end handling in the timeline has been rebuilt. A movable end marker is now visible in the timeline, playback respects the marker, and there are two configuration modes. Auto mode positions the marker at the first tick after the final asset in the scene. Manual mode allows users to set the marker through the toolbar or the timeline context menu.
The timeline context menu now allows removal of empty layered tracks and includes all scene-end actions. These additions provide more direct control over layer management and scene boundaries.
The preview editor is more flexible and interactive. Sprites and videos can be resized using on-canvas handles. Dialog boxes and menu panels support editable X, Y, width, and height values as well as drag-resize behavior. Menu overlays automatically scale text and fonts to match custom panel sizes, improving consistency during layout adjustments.
The File menu now includes an upgraded Export Scene Video feature. VNGen Studio renders each frame, mixes music and sound effects into a WAV file, and, if ffmpeg is installed, muxes the audio with the MP4 export so the final video contains sound. If ffmpeg is not detected, the export proceeds as a silent video and provides a notification.
Several quality-of-life updates have been added. Assets can be dragged directly onto the scene, background and media defaults have been refined, and new organizational tools such as loop controls and onboarding adjustments have been introduced.
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to download VNGen Studio, explore it, and share thoughts or concerns. Your feedback has been invaluable as I learn how to build and maintain a tool of this scale. I appreciate your patience and your willingness to point out what works and what still needs improvement. Every comment helps guide the next step forward, and I am genuinely grateful for the support as VNGen Studio continues to grow.
