Hello, it's me, Dbs.
I'm excited to announce that version 1.1 of "What's a Knight Supposed to Do" came out! There were a lot of unique changes that elevate the game, making it no longer just be a "Brackeys platformer"
Here's what to expect:
- new movement changes (jump buffering)
- a total of 4 new NPC's
- a secret 11th coin
While I am extremely happy about finally finishing the update, here's why it took so long.
1. I have just been very busy with school and the like, and while I would love to develop games all day I'm a student so I cant :(
2. I tried to design and create everything myself this update (jump buffering being the exception), so learning and thinking about how to make things took a while. It did help me develop a lot as a developer though.
3. While I have been finished with the update for a decent while now (prob around a month), the exporting was not working no matter how hard I tried. I spent so long trying to make it work, but nothing did. It was only till I was just about to write a blog post and was taking screenshots of my engine where it fixed itself.
You're probably wondering whats next for the little knight. Whats the plan and goal for the next update?
Before v1.2, I want to add optimizations to files of the game. The game is horribly optimized (file wise) as the export still has 3D features, BLOATING THE FILE SIZE (the reason why such a small game is like 40mb zipped). I really want to push out an update soon making the file size much, MUCH smaller.
I don't want to spoil anything for v.1.2, but Ill reveal some stuff in the next devlog (after v.1.11) .
It's gonna be a great update though, be prepared!
