Unending Universe #8.4

Unending Universe

Fixes and changes

Cruising Speed can be adjusted using Mouse Scroll.

Nyeko created the first multimedia guide in UU – Drone Guide.

The guide is aimed primarily at new players (but not only at them) and shows how to effectively deal with every type of drone, even with basic ship equipment (only guns at level 1 and nothing more).

I encourage you to watch it, learn from it, and practice (because practice makes perfect) - you'll see that fighting drones won't be frustrating anymore - or if it is, it's only frustrating for the drones :D

A new item has been introduced – Drive Compressor.

Increased Login Bonus (more than 2 times).

Hoooorray! :D

But no one will get it for free anymore…

Booo! :(

To get this bonus, you'll need to win a new (very first and I hope not the last) minigame. And here it is…
<fanfare>Tadaaa!  Unending Universe Pazaak! :)

I don't know if you've ever encountered this game. It comes from the Star Wars universe, from the great RPG Knights of the Old Republic. I don't know if you'll like it (I hope so), but if you want to get Login Bonus, you'll have to learn how to win it (a small catch) :D

Around the game

Finally, there is a new item... Initially, Drive Compressor was intended to be an additional advantage primarily for interceptor ships (as a new/improved ship stat). But during testing, I decided it was worth introducing it as a new item for all ships. Now even a dreadnought can surprise you with its mobility and acceleration - and why not? I think this is a much better solution.

Regarding ship balance, which I mentioned on Discord. Until we can come up with something sensible, I don't plan on making any changes to ship stats. I'm looking for something that will make every ship similarly playable and similarly worth considering. That will allow all classes to be visible in the game. I'm tempted to equalize the base stats of all ships (by main class) so that only equipped items provide an advantage. However, I am not fully convinced of this… That's why I'm asking you.

It's difficult, even very difficult, but if it succeeds, it will be a great success for this game and all the people who helped meet this challenge. So I encourage everyone to share their thoughts on this matter.

UPDATE:
I already have an idea - I want to give up ship classes and most (maybe even all) of the base parameters that currently divide these classes. I want to give players more freedom and room for creativity. The only limitations will be items and slots. There will no longer be a situation in which neither ship has turbines, but one is significantly faster than the other. If you want speed, agility, or any other parameter - equip the appropriate items.

I think that such an "equalization" of ships (because each ship will be relatively similar - but not the same) will make playing all classes much more fun and much more interesting.

Creativity, outsmarting the enemy and coming up with a better configuration will be more important. By looking at your ship, the enemy will not know about its pros/cons. Now he knows - this one has better energy recovery, this one is very slow... After the changes he will not be sure. This will make each ship much more surprising.

Thanks to the game's current patrons - it's great that you continue to support UU.

Only three on board - not too many, but if you're looking for positives, there could always be fewer of them. :)

I just want to remind you that all funds collected are always allocated to the game. First of all, the server and technical support (rarely, but sometimes necessary). Next, assets that can help take the game to the next/higher level.

I found some great assets that I would like to introduce to the game. I especially liked one multimedia asset very much. It would enable multimedia guides placed in the game, videos showcasing anything you want related to the game – also embedded directly in UU. For example, videos advertising your Wing could be played on additional screens in Outpost/Hive. Many, many interesting possibilities…

So, if you like this project and would like to see it continue to grow, please consider supporting it on Ko-Fi.

Until next time.
