The Narrative Behind INCURABLE
I’ve seen a lot of players interested in this game's story. So I make this post dedicated to anyone who is interested in knowing what happens behind this game. That said I recommend everyone to play first then read this line.
This is a short horror game with fast pacing and approximately 5 minutes of gameplay. The player takes on the role of Dr. Horace Vale, a skilled doctor. The most mysterious figure in the story is Horace himself, along with Patient 4. In reality, Dr. Horace has a wife, who is depicted in a photograph displayed in his office. A parasitic disease has emerged, and Horace is tasked with treating patients and conducting daily check-ups. As there are no cures available, he dedicates himself to creating vaccines and other treatments.
Unfortunately, Horace himself has been diagnosed with the parasitic disease, and the parasite influences his efforts to find cures for his patients. He sees everyone as “patients”, including his wife. She is identified as Patient 4 in the game.
On the first day, while the doctor is grappling with his own diagnosis, he begins to experience hallucinations in which he is helping patients who trust him. In truth, however, he is being controlled by the parasite, which has concocted a potion disguised as a vaccine on the second day. As a result, when players choose to vaccinate a patient, they inadvertently spread the disease to the patients. Horace’s wife, or Patient 4, is aware of the doctor's deteriorating mental state, and in his hallucinations, she appears as the most chaotic patient in the hospital.
On Day 2, the doctor makes the tragic decision to euthanize his wife. If players visit Patient 4 first, she breaks all the vaccines, which saves other patients from being assimilated by the parasite. By Day 3, the doctor is struggling against hallucinations of his wife, while in reality, he is confronted by her lifeless body, with flowers in her room.
