Each iteration(version) of this project takes 8 hours of coding time.
It's been more then a month to finish those 8 hours. Development was sporadic and disjointed. My Trello is breaking from the amount of ideas that "asking" to be implemented. It feels that this game takes forever, but compare to my other projects at least I can see clear progress.
So I finished the hexagonal grid placing system for plats, i think it will bring more structure and strategy to actual gameplay. Also start moving away from free assets, trying to create tiny art 16x16 now but i think it's a good idea to move 32x32 that will be more expressive. So it's version 3 we still have no sound.
Well I move around 3 different countries in one month, that was not helping with development. But new experience maybe will lead to new ideas... Trello with it's board helping a lot, i can just sent all of my unstructured ideas to "inbox" and then just pick most interesting one and start grinding. The difference between version 1 and version 2 is so much bigger then difference between 2 and 3. The idea of 8 hours was that project should be playable after each iteration, in this one it's still playable but has some features that just not working properly, like different UI elements that don't do anything. Maybe next iteration. Well now also we have areas where player cant place plants.
I wrote timer app to track my development time, with the intent to analyze development patterns later.
So All the Grand ideas should wait till fundament is stable.
In general moving towards expanding amount of plants + zombies, also more diverse level design. Plus it would be fun to have some sort of metagame in a hub area, like a zoo or an actual garden, still thinking about it...
