Learning Curve
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux

Hey, thanks to everyone who has downloaded 0.21a and played. I wanted to give a quick roadmap update for what's coming next for Learning Curve. The explanation of 0.3 contains some spoilers for what's in the game so far, so if you haven't had a long conversation with Master Osgood you may want to skip reading that for now.

0.21 small update: Starsight is just edging out Academy in the survey, and Starsight aligns well with what I have planned for 0.3, so that'll be the next small update. Small updates don't progress the main storyline any further, but they add a bit more depth and flavor to the world. I'm hoping to have this ready for testing around October 10th, and released by October 17th.

0.3 major update: I think I've said this before, but from now on each major numbered updated will progress the main storyline (Graham's Lumberjacking). I have the main points planned out, so each update will add one or two of them. This update will involve Starsight and Starlight Manipulation. I started this game without much background worldbuilding, but once it got big and I had to do some of that I thought it would be interesting to have a world with no Gods, but powerful mortals who were capable of making Relics that granted some of their power. Hence the building that looks like a church (and yeah, the default RPGmaker graphics definitely intend for it to be a church) is instead the Reliquary, a place where Master Osgood and his acolytes hold several relics, and Osgood himself can make more - his Master skill is Observe, and he makes the observer amulets that Foreman Taylor at the lumberyard (and others) can use to track people's skills. In 0.3, Graham is going to start to learn Starlight Manipulation and how to create his own relics.

Other things to know:

  • I've linked it already, but there's a survey here about what small updates people would like to see next
  • As always, if you find any bugs please report them using this form. You can also just comment here or on the main page, but the bug report form is to make sure I don't forget about anything. Submitting bugs automatically creates an item on this page - feel free to scroll through and see how many bugs I've fixed! It's both exciting (because I've gotten a lot done) and depressing (because my game has had a lot of bugs), but mostly exciting to see people enjoying something I've made.
  • There is a wiki for the game here - it is fan-created and I don't update it myself, but I'm happy to help clarify details on the wiki. As is the nature of wikis, anyone can edit it.
  • Now that Learning Curve is actually indexed and searchable on itch.io, there's a small chance someone reading this isn't already familiar with The Stubborn Skill Grinder in a Time Loop - this series was the inspiration for my game, so if you've enjoyed the game you'd probably like the book too, and there's enough of it to keep you busy until my next update.
  • I have a channel for the game in the Stubborn Skill Grinder discord, and I share early builds of the game there for testing. Early builds often have a lot of bugs, so please help me find them!

I think that's it. Thanks again to everyone who has played, and see you next update!
