I am in the process of changing the prices on my older games. At the time, it felt right to price them as free, especially the ones that are made more to be jokes, but there has been a lot of discussion about how all the free TTRPGs on itch.io creates the expectation that everyone should put out their microgames for free, and makes people devalue their labor. Some people just want to put games up for free, and I definitely wouldn't have been able to post if there had been pressure to immediately make something Worth Money, but it's hard to deny that there's an unfair consumer expectation with regards to microgames on itch right now.
These games are also old enough and low profile enough that listing them as free doesn't even really generate extra traffic for them, from a marketing perspective.
