This update is all about animation, feedback, and personality — making every jump, stomp, and swim feel more expressive and alive.
Oh, and one more exciting note — our little gray cube finally has a name: meet Bit! 🧊
Bit’s been through a lot of testing, tweaks, and tumbles, and now they’re really starting to come alive on screen.
Standard Platforming:
🦶 Added a new stomp landing animation that plays when Bit bounces off an enemy.
⚠️ Introduced an edge-scared ledge animation that triggers when Bit teeters near a cliff.
🌪️ Added a long-fall pose for extended drops before landing.
💨 Refined jump and land squash/stretch, making them slightly more exaggerated for a bouncier feel.
Swimming:
💦 Added full directional swim sprites with dynamic squash/stretch depending on motion.
🫧 Bubbles now trail from Bit during swimming strokes.
🔊 Added a soft “boop” swim sound that triggers on each stroke for rhythmic feedback.
💥 Added new enemy death animations — enemies now squash and pop more dramatically.
🐟 Added a fish enemy death variant with underwater splash and bubble FX.
🧨 Enhanced explosion and sparkle FX for a snappier finish when enemies are defeated.
💫 Keys now emit a sparkle burst when collected for a more rewarding feel.
Build 0.6.6 focuses on personality and polish — Bit now feels more reactive to the world around them.
Every action has a little more bounce, splash, and sparkle! ✨
