Patch 1.1.1

SAMHAIN: Wrath of Wendigo (finished)

Hi Community,

luckily SCREAM JAM 2025 added some time to the deadline for patches and updates throughout their jam due to the DDoS Attack on itch.io and this additional time I have used to polish a few things that I knew were sub-par solved.

Some of the comments on the game underlined the need for some more polishing. Thank you people for taking the time to do so - this jam is very social and being part of the community feels rewarding. Initially I didn't plan on patching at all but the strong bond within the community of this jam moved me to step up once more and give the project some additional love. Thanks again everyone!

The experience on this jam and specifically on such a lore deep project combined with feedback and watching every other project to move on with patches and getting additional care was the sole reason to point out the flaws and path them up to become strenghts of this project.

1. Added an additional scene and voiceline to have a smooth transition in the lore from introduction to solving puzzles. Now it is clear, throughout the game, why those puzzles are part of the game and what their purpouse is.

2. Did major patches on text and removed all kinds of typos that slipped in while development.

3. Adjusted the first puzzle (it's not obvious that it already is the first puzzle but this is on purpouse, smoothly moving from dialogues to interactive content) sparking a flame to start a fire with the Flintirons. Added more visual and audible responses to interactions on the Flintirons and changed the graphic to subtly display that those two Flintmetal needs to be grinded from left to right (for those who never used Flintmetal to be more obvious what the expected task is).

4. Adjusted some audio levels to have a clear understanding of the voicelines and consitent overall audio levels (still to be furthermore adjusted in a future patch).

5. Changed the campfire to be better animated and reflect the flashes of the fire burning higher once in a while. Also added some additional sparks to match the audio of the campfire and have a more realistic feel to it being an actual burning fire.

6. Added Twitch and Discord link to the startingscreen.

7. Added blinking in gold to interactive Buttons to continue/proceed with the dialogues to be more obvious as interactible UI elements.

8. Added blinking animation to the Shaman Persona.

9. Added glowing eyes to the Wendigo.

10. Centered the Campfire / adjusted its alignment on-screen.

This shall be not the last patch, I got one more coming in ASAP with an overhaul of the UI and it's frames and buttons and a slight addition to the last puzzle to make the task more clear. Also the credits when winning the game where quickly thrown in, those might also get some more lovin' optionally. Last but not least on my list is adding some tension risers to some parts of the game to transport the urgency of the situation and upvalue the immersion.

See you on the next (and hopefully/possibly last) patch for this project! Untill then, enjoy and have fun - I am thankfull for each playthrough and every comment - this helps me staying motivated, having people who value my sleepless nights.
