0.20 Release!

Learning Curve
A downloadable game for Windows

Version 0.20 is finally here! I apologize that it was a bit later than intended, turns out the more content you add to a game the longer it takes to test it. I've added some additional functionality for alpha testers in the future that should make it easier.

The new stuff is pretty much what I mentioned in the roadmap post I made a little while back, but I'll copy it here.

0.2 New Content:

  • Long loops! You can now proceed for several days if you defeat the dragon and the empire.
  • Exposition! You can now talk to Master Osgood in the Reliquary (if your destiny is shining bright enough) and get a bunch of lore dump for the world and an explanation of what the main goal of the game will be.
  • Walking skill is enabled (must talk to Master Osgood). Increases movement speed and lets you transition between areas without losing time.
  • A new cutscene (and existing cutscenes slightly adjusted in timing)
  • A new area with new enemies, and the most challenging fights yet
  • New uses for the Diplomacy skill
  • Plus more! (not a lot more, but a little)
0.2 New / Modified Gameplay Mechanics
  • TP replaced by Stamina. Instead of gaining more energy to do cool moves, you start with energy and use it to do cool moves! Kinda more realistic that way, right? Max Stamina and Stamina regen rate are both increased with Physical Fitness levels. Base attack costs a little stamina, bigger attacks will cost more. If you run out of stamina mid-battle, you can still defend and rest up.
  • Regeneration skill now gives regen based on skill level, not just tiers
  • Many enemies now have new skills, resistances, and combat behaviors more than just doing basic attacks.
  • Finishing work orders now impacts the Empire fight (if you want!)
0.2 Bugfixes

  • Too many to note, and a lot of them were for content/gameplay introduced in 0.2 but I'll mention a few things
  • Fixed a crash that would happen when advancing time at the clock
  • More consistent behavior around the dragon showing up at time = 15 - removing repeated dialogue, better positioning, etc
  • Cleaned up dialogue and events in lumberyard that would result in loops, incorrect dialogue, and people being in two places at once
  • Better logic around Emmy's room and Mr. Harris's office permissions
  • Improved talking to Mr. Harris and entering the workshop early (did you know you could do that?)

As always, thanks for checking out my project, I'd love to hear any feedback you have. There's a bug report form here, a survey about what I should work on next here, and the game wiki is here (and that'll need updating)

Reminder on scheduling: I'll do some minor content updates (check the survey) in the coming few weeks, and hope to have 0.3 out in by early December.
