#Devlog #FossilQuest #major patch
Hey Everyone!!
Romy and Lasse here with an update.
We're turning this project into the real deal!
Because of the overwhelming response to the game, the amazing feedback and your support we've decided to bring this game to life and we have a new steam page setup. Join the expedition and give us a wishlist, it means a great deal to us:
We'll keep supporting the itch build for quite a while as we work on the full game.
Patch Notes
Shop
We've added an awesome new shop. Here you can buy new exhibit stands, tool upgrades and more to bring your museum to life.
New Location
We've added a whole new location to explore: The Karoo in South Africa.
New Fossils!
We've added three new fossils (one of which is a complete therapsid with 20 bones!) to find, excavate and exhibit! Can you find them all?
New Save System
We noticed that the save game system was a bit of a performance drain so we've completely re-written it to be much more lightweight.
Bug Fixes and QOL Improvements
- Reduced the size of the web build.
- Added an 'Excavation Report' that shows after going on an expedition
- New ground type added to dig sites.
- Added some new sound effects.
- Added ability to rotate fossils vertically when excavating.
- Improved the hotspot accuracy of the cursor when excavating fossils.
- Improved the world map UI
- A host of bug fixes.
Things we're still trying to figure out....
- Firefox Support
Currently the web build doesn't work on Firefox. We're really trying to figure this one out but it has us stumped at the moment. Web builds are so finicky. Sorry. If you want to play you can always download the PC build or try it on a different browser. - Audio Stuttering
Sometimes the audio stutters, especially when going from one scene to another. We're working on this, but also, it's a pain to debug and honestly I don't have a clue (yet) on how to resolve this.
In general the web build is a lot more problematic so for the best experience just download the executable!
Thank you so much for playing and sending us your ideas, feedback and support
We're really excited about the future of Fossil Quest and looking forward to working on it more.
Happy digging!
