This game is my first big idea that never saw correctly done on any other game. Although there are several that go near it, none has completely filled that box.
However this game is very deep and wide, so it is not a simple task to do it. It evolves lots of time perfecting systems, dozens of interlocked systems that depend on one another, and the fun one, multiplayer.
Without being too specific for now, it is a MMO city builder game which involves a lot of resource extraction and transformation. You can't simply chop a tree and they suddenly become 3 planks to build a house, no. You have to drag the trunk to a nearby mill, cut it into planks, deal with the excess wood scraps, and pile the planks somewhere until enough to make a house. Also, you'll need nails so lets mine iron.
Each player can have several cities built on different maps, and although there is a global tech tree, each city has specializations depending on nearby environment. So if you found a city near water you can have export of fish, algae and sushi, but if you build your city in the mountains it could specialize in iron or copper mining. Other cities can become transformation hubs because the energy requirements (wind, solar) are so cheap that they're economically viable. You'll have to have logistics to move commodities between cities, deal with market prices (what today is cheap to produce and sell high, tomorrow it can change), deal with pirates or accidents, etc.
So as I said, it's not easy to interlock all those systems.
However the indie gamedev scene now is so advanced and barriers to entry are so low, that after considering this game for years now and doing a cursory investigation the last months, and with 2 soon to be 3 games launched under my belt, I believe it to be possible to develop this game in reasonable time. All the systems exist. What not exist I already coded most of them, from my other games. Concept projects already proved to be feasible and cost-effective on MMO terms. So I am advancing this game step by step.
