Regal Update
Hello! I'm happy to announce a major quality of life update and visual update to the game thus far. After the initial demo, there were many things that hindered the gameplay. Here is the changelog for all that is here in this new content update.
- Added start, pause and retry buttons
- Added title, intro and in-game music
- Added dynamic music and level transition
- Reworked timer, rat counts and item cost UI
- Added ambient thunder effects to the visuals
- Added animations for rats entering and exiting the rathole
- Added rat squeak and squeal sound effects for game interactions
- Rats now display a stack of gold for each bar they collect
- Rats now do not fall straight down anymore
- Levels get progressively darker the farther you go down
- In-game music slowly drops in pitch as you progress through levels
There are also some bug fixes
- Cheese actually works now
- Offset of the mouse and tile placement are more reliable
- Rats properly poof out of existence after some time
- Game no longer crashes upon replaying from a game over (I hope)
- Leftover rats from the previous level no longer continue to exist in the next level
- Items cannot be placed without sufficient gold after a game over
- Rats do not get stuck on a spring anymore (woohoo!)
There is still an ongoing bug where rats cannot jump up if they are standing in a gold bag tile. There is also another bug where pausing as rats spawn will prevent the remaining rats from spawning. I am aware of these bugs, but they will be held off to fix for the next update.
This is not the final update for the game! There will be two more major updates to finish off the project. The next update is the Descension Update, which will add new items and levels. The final update will be the Magical Update, which will add physics-altering tiles and level selection. Stay tuned for more :)
