Fantasy hack for "Welcome Aboard, Captain"

Welcome Aboard, Captain
A downloadable Print-and-Play Game

For people interested in Welcome Aboard, Captainthis might be of interest.

A reddit user named NPaladin10 has shared their hack of the game to support high fantasy roleplaying, leveraging the powerful mission rules of the game with some clever adjustments to allow it to work in a completely different setting.

I haven't tried it, but reading over the presentation, it all sounds reasonable and workable.  I was particularly interested in the presentation of their makeshift magic rules. The idea of having one existing trait die give narrative permission to invent d4 traits of a given type, for instance, was smart, putting some guardrails on the "create it on the fly" nature of the d4's when things like magical capability should still be out of reach for some characters.  What a simple and elegant little tweak!

Anyway, even if you're not interested in high fantasy, it's worth taking a look at for the purposes of adapting the game to your own narrative tastes. Little hacks and house rules are a fundamental, essential, celebrated aspect of tabletop RPG's, and I love seeing people embracing a rules set to the point where they kitbash it with their own fresh ideas and sharing those ideas with others.

Great stuff!
