0.2.1.0a: Systems Rework, Visual Polish, and Arousal Adjustment

This is our 0.2.1.0a build, and it’s a hefty refinement pass. Arousal works differently, enemies are more modular, and the compendium and visuals got a big quality-of-life shine. Lots of groundwork here for future content.

New Content & Features

  • Arousal decay — Arousal now ticks down by 10% of the maximum at the end of each turn. To balance this, max arousal values have been lowered.
  • Tutorial repolish — Updated to showcase the new arousal rules, fresh assets, and new cards.
  • Enemy profiles — Enemies are now their own profiles, making future enemy swapping and variations much smoother.
  • Enemy stance overhaul — Stances are now a proper data structure, enabling per-turn effects (like Handheld auto-playing Caught in Her Grasp).

Visuals & Presentation

  • Deck & discard counters — Both piles now visibly display how many cards are inside.
  • Enemy deck inspection — Right-click an enemy deck to see its name, art, effects, and exit conditions.
  • Enemy deck clarity — Cards outside your size range are now dimmed when viewing the deck, making it easy to spot what’s applicable.
  • Shop peek — Right-click the random shop button to preview all eligible cards in your size range.
  • Sprite tweening — Enemies now smoothly tween when growing or shrinking. Some stance sprites also scale now, and Slimantha has a brand new maximum-size visual (bringing her total to 4).

Systems & Balance

  • Resource rework — Supports per-enemy resources, tokens, and compendium categorization.
  • Unified card logic — Enemy and player cards now share handling, laying the groundwork for cross-playable cards in the future.
  • Conditional cleanup — The way conditional effects are checked in cards was rebuilt, making new designs easier to implement.
  • Discard Conditions — The way we handle cards that stay in play, or are removed from your deck in certain conditions, was completely redone.
  • Visual Novel backend — Scene systems got a “behind the curtain” rebuild to streamline future additions.

Fixes & Adjustments

  • Numerous bug fixes and card adjustments throughout.
  • Chi and Crazed reworked so much stuff I might have missed some.
