I will be using Unreal Engine 5.6.1 for the development of this project. This first prototype is just a basis for how the movement will feel in the game, additionally testing and tweaking mechanics like the grapple, dash, sprint, slide, and wall run. Feedback on my concept document helped me develop the feel that I wanted for the character movement that would best support the core gameplay loop that I am hoping to establish. I have not done too much prototyping of the core loop yet as there are a few systems that need to be ironed out for the combat to work but with this player character done it will be easy to iterate on what needs to be changed while developing the rest of the game. Through the way that certain mechanics have been implemented in this prototype, I have changed some of my ideas on how the melee combat will be developed. No major issues have come up yet, aside from some fov bugs that needed to be ironed out. Next update will have the basic combat system in place for testing.
