ITCH | MEGA | ITCH-DELUXE | MEGA-DELUXE
So, starting off with the art part, we have the last of the Tier I corruption costumes added to the game this week and together with that also the last hair style. Our assistant developer Trihan has further iterated upon the deluxe console character editor from last week and ported it over to Liora. If you just want to try out the new costume & hair style without needing to wait for a clause, then this is the easy and quick way!
Speaking of clauses, that already moves us over to the topic of Edgar. We also have 2 more proposals added into Edgar's rotation:
These are mostly just setup though. We will later have a clause that when Liora works for Edgar, she needs to do some sort of service job for him instead (I was thinking secretary since we already did plenty of maid stuff in Aura), so this clause will be helpful in setting up the situation where Liora needs to work for Edgar.
Likewise, accepting Edgar's drink doesn't do much yet. Liora will receive a Drunk debuff based on the negotiated amount, but that will just add some extra +Arousal to the event and then provide a Headache debuff for the next days. Like I said, just setup stuff for now.
And then the majority of the week I mostly spent on Edgar's interactions with the item system. First of all, at Level 12 he will now learn a new spell called "Enchant: Item I". This spell is similar to SKA's Bless Item spell and allows to turn Recovery and Bomb items to Enchanted Recovery Items/Enchanted Bombs. Enchanting an item will double its power (double damage, recovery, duration on effects, etc) and value (so you could for example enchant items to sell for extra money if Edgar is out of money).
The spell also gives Edgar a passive +10 Income / Town Prosperity, overall it should give him a nice powerup to late-early game powerup and with that provide another useful piece for defeating the Demonized Warhound at the current end of the dungeon crawling content.
Together with this spell, I have also generally worked on how Edgar works with items. Up till now, he was only able to craft bombs - I have generalized the system so that he can now in theory execute any unlocked formula at the Alchemist. So for example, if you give him Ether he will no longer infuse it, but instead make Mana Pills and consume those. He can also make Coatings and when his mood is Impatient, he will put them on at day start.
I have also improved Edgar's logic of item use during battle, so that he will now take Potions when he's dying, or maybe use an Iron Will potion to prevent getting KOed. He will also use Stasis Bombs to interrupt enemy Windup moves - of course all of this is only true if he has the Impatient mood, otherwise he won't be helping you with items.
Not realted to items, but to Edgar's battle behavior is his new mood: Cunning. If the previous changes were to help players who are lagging behind by Edgar being better at item usage, then this new feature is to slow down those who are too fast.
When Edgar has the Cunning mood, he will have two unique Martials: Shove and Trip. These cunning skills both target Rean and give him debuffs (of course, all just the result of an accident, so it's not against the contract, he just happened to shove Rean as the result of getting attacked!!!!) In general, if I decide to add future content of Edgar trying to hinder the party, then this new Cunning mood would serve as the basis to control that behavior.
And that's mostly it for what's new. Besides these additions we also have two balancing changes for the Explorer Difficulty:
It was a bit difficult to analyze the difficulty feedback as my analytics data was largely polluted from cheaters putting their Lewdness at 100k+ or stuff like that. (Sadly I can't just exclude it since I'm just using a free service which just aggregates the data in simple graphs) I implemented some sanity checks this week to disregard such future data from being sent so I hope I can see some more clearer data on what the current lewdness / decay / area progress states are in the next release cycle.
Aaaand that's it for Liora this week! For SKA we will also have a prerelease this week but it will just be a small one mostly with some maintenance stuff and some more follow up on the deluxe console character editor work.
