I finally got the OSX build working. I developed the game on a Mac, and not being able to offer a Mac build really got to me.
I’m used FMOD to implement the audio (there are a lot of cool randomizations and transitions in the music and ambience that I could only make happen with FMOD). Unfortunately the Mac export caused a weird bug that resulted in a silent game. I wasn’t happy with this, because I spend a lot of time implementing the various audio aspects.
I asked several people and learned a few new tricks, but utlimately I wasn’t able to solve the issue. I spend several days trying out different approaches to export the audio, because the main issue seemed to be the 2D event emitter node that I attached the music to. Without going into the details: The game is now ready to be enjoyed on Mac (and hopefully Linux as well) in all its audio-visual glory.
