Hello everyone!
Welcome to version 1.2.1 of Unstable Space Raiding: we have some new content to share with you all.
After taking part in the Loop Jam (2025), the team decided to keep working on the game to make further polish, new content and better mechanics, taking in consideration everyone's feedback and our personal thoughts on the game overall.
Without further ado, here's a list of what's new!
- We've added full gamepad and touch support, feel free to try the new layouts!
- The game now has a level selection menu, to allow player to go back to previously completed levels and have another go whenever they want.
- The game can now be properly paused, and players can quit the current level to choose another (note that quitting a level before reaching its end, won't save the progress made).
- Levels now have collectibles; the game UI shows what's yet to find, and discovered items will consequently appear in the level selection menu.
- Player can now take a moment to look around the map before jumping into the unknown. By pressing the L key on the keyboard (or the Y button on a gamepad) and then moving around, the player can see a bit farther from their current position.
- Spaceship, Player sprite and the Stabilizer have all been revamped with new animations and slight behaviour changes; this time, you've got to catch the spaceship's ladder and fly away in order to complete the current level! The Safe Zone in which the player won't generate any images is now made clear through visuals (the force field you'll see around the spaceship and the stabilizer).
- There's a new sperimental level making use of various mechanics we had, but hadn't used a lot of yet. While it still needs some further polish, we hope you'll find it to your liking.
- We've added support for the Italian Language, and laid the foundations for future languages support.
- There's new level music now, longer and correctly looped for a more relaxing experience.
We'd also like to adress current problems and future updates and fixes we're already working on:
- New levels and general level polish (both in gameplay and in graphics)
- Fix standard sound values at roughly 50% instead of 0% (player might have to turn up the volume through the settings menu when first launching the game)
- Allow touch controls users to pause the game (we're sorry for the current incovenience!)
- better use of digital input controls and polishing of various timings for general player character controls
- further exploration of powerups, level design and hazards
- further exploration of records, points system and collectibles graphics and behaviour
Thank you so much for trying out our game and leaving such amazing feedback. All feedback is very much welcome and appreciated, so don't be scared to let us know your thoughts and concerns with the game.
With this being our proper first game and project, we're very enthusiastic and excited to share more with you, whether through new Unstable Space Raiding updates or future new projects!
We hope you'll be there to watch us grow, and enjoy the ride of course!
See you in our next devlog <3
