After five months of working on Drift solo, I can finally say the Act 2 demo is ready. It’s a huge relief to finally have this in a more playable state. You’ll be able to make more choices, follow Noah’s narration, and get a real taste of what the game is meant to be. What's new in this version, you might ask?
That said, the art you’ll see in this version is still a placeholder. I’m still searching for an artist to help bring these characters and the world to life. The good news is that the new soundtrack is in place, and hearing it alongside the story has made everything click together in a way I’ve been dreaming about for a long time.
I want to be upfront: Drift will remain free to play until all the placeholder visuals are replaced with commissioned, hand-drawn assets. That’s a major expense, and I’ll essentially be funding it out of my own pocket.
Originally, Drift was planned as a four-act story. But while revising, I realized Act 3 was doing way too much heavy lifting. To give the pacing more room to breathe, I’ve split it into two acts. That means Drift is now a five-act game. I know “feature creep” is always a concern, but this is the only big structural change I’m making; the rest of the plan remains intact.
I’m incredibly grateful for the people who’ve shown interest so far. If you’d like to support Drift, or even if you just want to check out the free demo when it launches, thank you. Take a breath. Dive deep. The surface is just the beginning.
PS: If you play the demo and liked it, PLEASE spread the word. I don't have much of a following online, so any support people can provide will make a huge difference (and if the right people see it, it'll hopefully speed up the development process too).
