Hey everyone! 👋
I’ve just started development on a new project called Pixel Colony: Survival — a lightweight colony-building survival game that runs entirely in your browser.
The idea is simple but challenging:
You’ve crash-landed on a hostile alien world with a small group of survivors. Your job? Keep them alive, build a base, research technology, and survive the unexpected.
Here’s what I’m currently building into the free version:
Resource Management → Gather food, wood, stone, and power to keep your colony running.
Buildings → Construct huts, farms, lumberyards, quarries, mines, labs, solar panels, turrets, and the all-important Beacon.
Colonists → Recruit survivors, each with traits that affect morale and productivity.
Events → Storms, alien wildlife, and sickness will test your survival plans.
Research → Unlock new tech to push your colony forward.
Victory Condition → Build and power the Beacon to signal for rescue.
Right now, I have the basic loop running: resources can be gathered, colonists can be added, and buildings are being constructed. Events and research are the next big things I’m working on.
In the next few weeks, I’ll be:
Adding autosave and load systems.
Expanding colonist traits and morale.
Balancing the early game so survival feels tough but fair.
This free version will act as a complete standalone game but also as a stepping stone for a bigger paid edition later on (with more buildings, tech, events, and replayability).
Thanks for following along—I can’t wait to share more updates soon! 🚀
