To all my weird creature enthusiast friends!
It's been a long while since I did any work on Overgrown and honestly, that's a heckin' shame!
Earlier this year my wonderfully skilled cover artist, Valentina, came to me to say she wanted to redo the cover for the game and well... somehow she managed to do something even better than she did the first time around!
Then in pursuit of getting the book into a more print ready shape, I approached my lovely friend, KatBat, who I know has some expertise in printworks and well, he kinda bullied me into letting him first proof the entire book, then do a full edit pass and finally sorted out the layout all nicely AND THEN got the bleed and everything sorted out to make it all print ready! I've now done my first ever proper print run and have boxes of Overgrown sitting behind me right as I type! If you're heading to any UK cons in the near future, you may well see them on stands there, so keep an eye out (and I'll be looking at getting it over in Europe and further afield at some point in the future!).
So Overgrown 2e is here! It's not an enormous amount of change mechanically - a few small mechanics changes, such as the "trauma" system you used to have when you rolled a 1 on the dice has been replaced by "mutations", which take the form of additional animal parts that are not under player control. Other changes are more cosmetic - rewording of things to make them clearer, layout rejigged to flow better, small tweaks here and there...
Anyone who already owned the game (whether paid or community copy) can now download the new version for absolutely free!
And keep an eye/ear out across the actual play scene because in celebration of the launch, I'm getting all manner of friends across the industry to play it (or have me on to run it for them) over the coming months :)
Thanks again to everyone who has supported this ridiculous endeavour and I hope you all love the updates!
Ben
