Purple Box Escapes Robots
A browser game made in HTML5

The game is now playable again on Itch.

The anti-piracy (a domain whitelist) script went a little crazy due to some changes on Itch's end a while ago I guess. Please don't be hesitant to reach out to me if it goes down again in the future. This was our first released game. And I want it to remain accessible.

Even though we're not currently planning on further developing this project (I would rather re-do it entirely, with an actual artist), reading back the comments and feedback here does tickle a part of my brain that wants to deliver something better, and generally really motivates me to deliver better games in the future.

I'm a perfectionist. It is often said that "Perfect is the enemy of good", and I held onto that saying at the time of releasing. I no longer think this entirely holds up in game dev. I think we have to strive for better than good. If many people are going to experience your game, your "good enough" will quickly sour into someone's "bad". So we have to strive for better. That was my biggest lesson learned with this game.

Anyway, random rambling over. Thank you for reading, thank you for playing and thank you for taking time out of your days to leave comments. Let's all strive to do better.
