Update 0.2.0: Level 4, Player Spells & Voiced Towers
Hey everyone! Time for a big update. Over the past weeks, I’ve been pushing the game forward in three big areas: new content, new systems, and major polish passes.
Level 4 – Dark Marsh:
- New Level: Designed and implemented Level 4, with a 'swampy' layout, decorations, fog effects, global lighting tweaks, and a full main map addition.
- New Enemies:
- Bomb Bats – suicide fliers that explode on impact, instantly killing militia units
- Larva - Small, overwhelming swarmers.
- Lizard - quick, tough brutes.
- Witch - hybrid ranged/melee attackers.
- Treemen – massive ranged units with incredible health.
- Giant Lizards – powerful tank enemies.
- Queen Larva –spawns waves of smaller larvae.
- Waves & Balance: Fully scripted and tested, with difficulty tuning in progress.
New Spells & Powerups:
- Exploding Barrel Powerup – deals damage across a wide area
- Barricade Powerup – placed on the road to stop enemies before it, forces them to attack it
- Spike Trap Powerup – placed on the ground to constantly deal damage to enemies over it, for a period of time
- Spell Library – new menu to buy and upgrade spells using stars collected from levels.
Audio Overhaul:
- Full Tower Voice Lines: Militia, Trebuchet, Mage, and Archer towers are now fully voiced, with each major upgrade step introducing new lines
- Enemy SFX: unique sounds for all units within level 4.
- Spell & Attack Audio: new fireball sounds
- Sound Balancing: mixed across the board for consistency.
Gameplay & Systems:
- Double-click rally placement – quality of life improvement for militia towers.
UI & Editor:
- UI Overhaul – icons, beautification, more interactability, and much better usability.
- New Enemy Display - reworked the new enemy display with new icons
- Map Menu Improvements – new spell buttons, cleaned up management.
- In-Game UI Polish – better scaling, resized panels, redesigned enemy displays.
WebGL & Itch.io:
- The game is now playable directly on Itch.io, complete with save data support!
Known Bugs:
- Mouse cursor may appear oversized in WebGL.
- Occasional toggle issues on magic power buttons.
- Rare save corruption on WebGL.
- UI tiling issue on level 1's 'Loss' window
