Picotan v1.0 Released!
PicotanA browser game made in HTML5
Picotan has moved out of the prototyping stage and into a full launch!
Numerous improvements have been made:
- High scores are now saved
- Brand new art (the game has much more of an identity now inspired by pinball / pachinko machines)
- Significant performance improvements
- No more slowdown when collecting 50+ balls (not sure if this will still occur much later in the game?)
- New menu options
- End current turn: Useful in situations where balls could get stuck bouncing back and forth infinitely. Immediately ends the turn so use cautiously
- Aim assist: Allows you to see where balls will reflect
- Screen shake: Can be disabled
- Brick HP: In the new version, health points are distributed randomly. This can be changed to legacy mode for linear progression (increases by 1 each turn)
- Reset high score: Does what it says on the tin
- Several bug fixes including:
- Collision is now more consistent
- Aiming preview is more accurate
I've made the P8 file available for download, but examine at your own peril -- the code is atrocious and can be optimized * a lot *. I may do this in the future but would not recommend trying to learn from this.
