📓 Dev Log — Our First Demo Launch & Story

Hello from the Retroid: Cartridge Protocol dev team!
We’re beyond excited to finally share the very first demo of our game with you.
To everyone who has been patiently waiting — thank you.
This demo offers about 30 minutes of gameplay, giving you a chance to experience the core action and systems we’ve been working hard on.

🔹 What is Retroid: Cartridge Protocol?

Retroid: Cartridge Protocol is a retro-futuristic action roguelike with a unique twist.
You play as Zero One — the only hope, and the only being capable of reclaiming the hidden power stored inside overlooked, dusty retro game cartridges.
With this power, you must grow stronger and face the Overmind Legion, a force that has seized control of the planet.

But here’s the catch — your enemies evolve too.
With every stage, the Legion adapts, creating a constantly shifting battlefield that forces you to rethink your strategy.
The combat is fast, intense, and packed with high-stakes boss battles where every move counts.

🔹 Why Retro-Futurism?

For us, retro-futurism isn’t just an aesthetic — it’s part of the game’s identity.
We wanted to blend the nostalgia of ‘80s–‘90s games and sci-fi design with modern visuals and action, creating a world where the past and future collide.

More importantly, this choice is personal.
As kids, our team remembers secretly plugging game cartridges into the TV when our parents weren’t looking, blowing the dust off and hoping they would start up, then carefully pressing “power” with a mix of excitement and tension.
We want to bring that feeling back — to share those moments with players who hold the same memories.

🔹 What’s Next?

This demo is just the beginning.
Your feedback will directly shape our Early Access build, coming in November.

Before that, we’ll be:

• Showcasing new content at Tokyo Game Show this September

• Participating in Steam Next Fest in October to meet more players

• Officially launching globally on Steam in March 2026

Our goal is to make this more than just another action roguelike — we want it to be a true battle of growth vs. growth, where strategy is just as important as skill.

안녕하세요! Retroid: Cartridge Protocol 개발팀입니다.
드디어! 여러분께 저희 게임의 첫 번째 데모를 공개하게 되었습니다.
오랫동안 기다려주신 분들께 진심으로 감사드립니다. 이번 데모는 약 30분 정도 플레이가 가능하며, 저희가 준비한 액션과 시스템을 직접 체험하실 수 있습니다.

🔹 Retroid: Cartridge Protocol은 어떤 게임인가요?

Retroid: Cartridge Protocol은 레트로 퓨처리즘 감성으로 무장한 액션 로그라이크 게임입니다.
플레이어는 적들이 눈치채지 못하게, 아무도 주목하지 않는 하찮은 레트로 게임 팩에 숨겨진 힘을 되찾아 쓸 수 있는 **유일한 희망이자 개체 ‘제로원(Zero One)’**이 됩니다.
그 힘을 활용해 행성을 지배하고 있는 Overmind 군단에 맞서 성장하고, 점점 강해지는 적들과 치열한 전투를 벌여야 합니다.
그러나 적 또한 매 스테이지마다 함께 성장하여, 매번 다른 전투 환경과 전략 대결이 펼쳐집니다.
전투는 빠르고 강렬하며, 강력한 보스와의 전투에서 매 순간 긴장감을 느낄 수 있습니다.

🔹 왜 ‘레트로 퓨처리즘’인가?

우리가 선택한 레트로 퓨처리즘은 단순한 미학이 아니라, 게임의 정체성을 담는 중요한 키워드입니다.
80~90년대 게임과 SF 디자인의 향수를 현대적인 그래픽과 액션으로 재해석해, 과거와 미래가 교차하는 독특한 분위기를 만들고 싶었습니다.
무엇보다도, 우리 개발진들이 어린 시절 부모님 몰래 게임 팩을 TV에 연결하고, 먼지 쌓인 게임 팩을 ‘후후’ 불어 잘 실행되길 바라며 조심스럽게 게임을 켜던 기억이 있습니다.
그 시절의 설렘과 긴장감, 그리고 화면 속 모험을 기다리던 감정을, 같은 추억을 가진 플레이어 여러분과 다시 나누고 싶었습니다.

🔹 앞으로의 계획

이번 데모는 단지 시작일 뿐입니다.
여러분의 피드백을 기반으로, 11월 공개 예정인 Early Access 빌드에 최대한 반영하겠습니다.
그에 앞서, 저희는 **9월 도쿄게임쇼(Tokyo Game Show)**에 참가하여 새로운 콘텐츠를 선보이고, **10월 스팀 넥스트 페스트(Steam Next Fest)**를 통해 더 많은 유저분들을 만날 계획입니다.
그리고 2026년 3월, 스팀을 통해 글로벌 서비스를 정식으로 진행할 예정입니다.
저희는 이 게임이 단순한 액션 로그라이크가 아니라, ‘성장과 성장의 대결’을 즐기는 전략적인 전투 경험이 되기를 바랍니다.

📓 開発日誌 — 初デモ公開と私たちの物語

こんにちは、Retroid: Cartridge Protocol 開発チームです！
ついに、皆さんに本作の初デモをお届けできる日が来ました。
これまで待ってくださったすべての方々、本当にありがとうございます。
今回のデモでは、およそ30分間のプレイを通じて、私たちが磨き上げてきたアクションとシステムを直接体験していただけます。

🔹 Retroid: Cartridge Protocolとは？

Retroid: Cartridge Protocol は、レトロフューチャーの世界観で描くアクション・ローグライクです。
プレイヤーは、誰にも気づかれずに放置されてきた古びたゲームカートリッジに秘められた力を唯一引き出せる存在、ゼロワン（Zero One） となります。
その力を使い、惑星を支配するオーバーマインド軍団に立ち向かい、成長しながら激しい戦いを繰り広げます。

しかし、成長するのはプレイヤーだけではありません。
敵もまたステージごとに進化し、常に変化する戦場が新たな戦略を要求します。
スピーディーで激しいバトル、そして一瞬の油断も許されないボス戦が待ち受けています。

🔹 なぜ「レトロフューチャー」なのか？

私たちにとってレトロフューチャーは、単なるビジュアル表現ではなく、このゲームの核となる要素です。
80〜90年代のゲームやSFデザインのノスタルジーを、現代的なグラフィックとアクションで再構築し、「過去」と「未来」が交差する特別な空気感を生み出しました。

そして何より、この選択には私たち自身の思い出があります。
子供の頃、親に内緒でテレビにゲームカートリッジを差し込み、ホコリを「フーッ」と吹き飛ばし、無事に動くよう祈りながらそっと電源を入れた——あのドキドキとワクワク。
あの頃の感覚を、同じ記憶を持つ皆さんともう一度分かち合いたいのです。

🔹 今後の予定

今回のデモは、あくまで始まりにすぎません。
皆さんからいただくフィードバックは、11月公開予定のアーリーアクセス版にできる限り反映していきます。

それまでに私たちは、

• 9月 東京ゲームショウで新コンテンツを発表

• 10月 Steam Next Festでより多くのプレイヤーと交流

• そして2026年3月、Steamでのグローバル正式リリース

を予定しています。

私たちは、この作品を「成長と成長のぶつかり合い」を楽しめる、戦略性の高いアクションゲームとして完成させたいと考えています。
