Today I’m finally putting into words what’s been spinning in my head for a while. The idea of an isekai-style RPG isn’t exactly new, but I didn’t think of the usual Japanese tropes. Instead, my mind went straight to Don Quixote, tilting at windmills, imagining whole worlds where others see nothing. That’s the spirit I want for this game: stepping into the mythical with nothing but imagination and some simple rules.
The concept feels alive to me now. A Paper Knight — fragile, flat, 2D — braving the vast, messy, 3D world we inhabit. It just clicked. You’re not pretending to be somewhere else entirely; you’re here, but seeing it differently, re-enchanting it.
The big push came when I saw the One-Page RPG Jam 2025, hosted by Unknown Dungeon. That challenge — to fit an entire game on a single page — gave me the perfect constraint to crystallize my ideas. No extra sheets, no accessories. One page to print, fold, and play. I love the limitation because it forces creativity.
Right now, I’m experimenting with ways to fold the page into both a paper knight and dice (maybe even origami-style), while still leaving space for clear, readable rules. It’s bold, and honestly a little daunting, but I’m hopeful. Summarizing the mechanics without losing the magic is going to take work, but that’s exactly what excites me about this project.
Onward, into the 3D world!
