#major-update
First game launch!
I'm very happy to publish the first game made by me. I have always been a fan of turn-based RPGs and card games, and I dream of creating many games in these two genres. For my first game, I wanted to make a turn-based RPG with combat based on poker cards. That was until I discovered Scoundrel through YouTube. It is a card-based solitaire game created by Zach Gage and Kurt Bieg in 2011. It is meant to be played with a standard poker deck and optionally a d20 die for HP tracking. I decided that adapting this game was perfect for my first project, and I have many big plans for it. A pillar of any game—especially a turn-based one—is its music, sound effects, animations, atmosphere, and overall game feel. This will be a main focus during the project. I want players to feel the tension the game conveys on a deeper level. Another focus, and the most important one, will be the game modes. I have a lot of ideas for modifications, new modes, levels, mechanics, and challenges, as well as some inspiration from ideas I've read online. I will publish the full source code of the game once I understand the legal considerations, and I plan to provide all the tools that modders might need. It will be my pleasure to give back to the open-source software community, which has given so much to me.
I am an Argentinian solo-dev living in Uruguay. Currently, I'm the only person working on this project, with a little help from some friends. English is not my first language, so please be patient with any mistakes I might make.
This is the first version of the game. It’s still really ugly, but it’s fully playable. I am currently working on visual improvements according to the roadmap. I will update the game as soon as the changes are ready and publish minor updates with bug fixes and small improvements.
I hope you enjoy the game, and I’ll be happy to hear your thoughts!
