Evolution 4.0 - Gallery and Skins

Evolution
A browser Simulation made in HTML5

A new major update of Evolution is here!

Gallery

Use the new gallery to save recordings of your favourite simulation results.

Unlike simulation save files, the gallery recordings don't depend on Unity's physics engine, so your creature movements in the gallery are guaranteed to stay the same regardless of updates to the game and underlying physics engine. The gallery also makes it a lot nicer to watch back your favourite creature behaviours compared to having to find and load individual simulation files one by one. You can treat the task of filling your gallery with cool simulation results as the ultimate goal of this game.

Skins

Choose from a list of skins such as googly eyes, noses, hands, feet and more and attach them to your creature's bones for a more personalized look. Skins are purely cosmetic and do not affect the simulation. Learn more about skins here:

Other Changes

  • Tap a selection of body components with the move tool to show scale and rotation handles for precise adjustments. This is especially useful for fine-tuning the orientation and size of the new skins.
  • Significantly improved the performance of save file loading and saving and reduced the memory usage during the simulation.
  • The camera now follows the creatures vertically as well, so your flying creatures won't fly out of view.
  • Added a background grid to the simulation screen to help see the movement of flying creatures once the ground is no longer visible.
  • Improved the UI layout for different screen sizes and resolutions.
  • Improved the visual quality of the UI.
  • Other bug fixes and stability improvements.
