Hello everyone, how did your jam go? I hope well. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to dedicate much time to rating other games because I'm preparing for university.
This was my second game jam experience, and also the second time I've 'finished' a project. Though it's really disappointing that after uploading it, I was notified that the exported versions of the project... have little to do with the final product. I fought hard to fix that bug before submitting, but it seems it ultimately didn't get resolved. This was quite a blow for me because despite this being such a demanding jam, I thought I had succeeded.
What was supposed to be a dodging and jumping game has literally become just a walk with a salmon. I truly regret this - it was never my intention to mislead anyone about the actual gameplay.
The idea was that as you progressed with the salmon, obstacles (visible in the screenshots) would generate along the way. Because of this issue, I had to remove the browser version - it had an even worse bug that I didn't notice until long after uploading. Apparently there's some collision issue preventing the salmon from jumping out of the water as it should.
After submitting, I preferred to just forget about everything because it was too frustrating seeing something not work no matter what I did. If there's one thing I learned from this, it's that I need to better organize my code and break it into smaller chunks - it was very hard to debug. However, when voting ends and files can be updated again, I'll probably release a patch to try fixing it so it can be enjoyed as originally intended.
If you still check it out and vote for it, I'd really appreciate it. I put a lot of effort and care into Glupsie.
With that said, thank you for your patience and understanding. Happy jamming!
