My First Asset Pack: A Look Back at the Essential UI Icons

Hello everyone, and welcome to the first Pixel Coder devlog! I wanted to take a look back at my first released asset pack, the Essential UI Icons.

This pack was truly a labor of love and my first big step into creating pixel art for other developers. My goal was to create a comprehensive, clean, and useful set of UI icons that could fit into a wide variety of projects, be that a game jam, prototype or in a fully fleshed out game.

Of course, it came with its own set of challenges! Designing complex ideas at a 16x16 resolution can be tricky. The icons for the compass and the different backpacks were particularly tough nuts to crack. This project was where I learned the power of using reference images to solve creative problems and bring an idea to life.

The response to the pack and the confidence it gave me has been incredible. Thank you to everyone who has checked it out so far! I have some ideas for future updates to this pack, so keep an eye out.

Thanks for reading!
