Hello.
I know the people who need to hear this aren’t following me here, but if you think my art brings down the quality of my games, please think about how you convey that opinion.
Leaving feedback for Hydrangea saying that the art ‘isn’t as terrible as last time’ is not the compliment you think it is.
Since my first release on Steam, the art I made for my solo game has been called many things.
Horrible art, looks like a child drew it, ugly, terrible, bad.
I’m aware it’s something that needs to be improved, but there are ways to say it. This is not one of them.
It’s not constructive criticism.
This has been going on for months and I’ve held back on talking about it publicly, but I’ve reached my breaking point. I can’t handle it anymore.
At this point, I’m just hurt. It’s impacted my self-esteem, my motivation and desire to create, and my want to keep releasing my projects to the public.
I’m not a corporation, I’m not a studio. I’m one person.
When you talk to me, you’re talking to a real, living, breathing person with emotions and feelings. When you talk about my art, I’m the one who’s reading it. When you insult me, you’re not insulting a studio’s social media intern, you’re insulting me.
I’m a person. That indie game dev you like is a person. That small artist you retweet is a person.
That’s all I’ll say. That’s all I want everyone to remember.
