Introduction - Labyrinth Project

I've been working on a cooperative multiplayer arena game, and in order to keep myself motivated I've decided I should have a devlog. The project is in the middle of a lot of changes but here's a quick overview of the game so far.

Up to three players each choose a character and enter a dungeon with randomly generated walls, and attempt to collect points by killing minions, finding treasures, or killing the Monster while avoiding traps. For now, the only lair is the Minotaur's lair, complete with the Minotaur as the Monster, harpies as minions, and also Medusa Statues as traps.

There are seven characters, each one inspired by a real-world cultural tradition. Right now I'm slowly going through and adding a level-up system and an item system, so as I update each character, I'll include more information on them specifically. For now, I'll just give an overview. The characters have four roles: tank--managing damage, defending, and healing; damage-dealer--dealing damage, killing stuff; support--any range of abilities that are aimed at benefitting other players; runner--scouting out the lair and finding treasures before they despawn.

The Trickster - Runner: chaotic, impulse-driven runner, based on English magicians

The Archer - Damage Dealer: distanced, controlled archer, based on Chinese legend Hou Yi

The Twin - Support, Runner: seer, predictive, based on Yoruba spirituality

The Hermit - Tank: tough, relentless, protective, based on the French hermit literary archetype

The Warrior - Damage-Dealer, Support: bloodthirsty, aggressive, healing, based on Aztec warriors

The Ghost - Runner: independent, evasive, based on Korean Gwisin

The Follower - Tank: summoner, based on Evangelical ideas of early Christians

The Dancer - Support: healing, areas of effects, based on Dine rain dancers
