New Project: Be Not Afraid 

I've got a new project on the go that I've been working on since the start of 2024. It's a concept I've been thinking about for the last few months and after seeing so many incredible PSX titles emerge on itch.io in the last few years as well as speaking with some talented PSX developers, I've decided to just give it a go. 

Get ready for yet another PSX ooh spooky dooky, 'I've just worked out how to use Unity post-processing' game (as if there weren't enough already). This project is called BE NOT AFRAID, a game about angels. 

What kind of game will it be?

A PSX horror game inspired by classic survival horror games as well as more modern ARGs and analog(ue for those in the UK) horror projects.  I would like to emphasise technology interacting with the player directly in unexpected ways because that's something that scares me and I want to see more of it. 

What's the game about?

The story takes place in the fictitious English town, Halbury on Trent, which was once a desolate former mining town. In a last-ditch effort to revive tourism in Halbury, the council decided to latch onto a legendary creature first sighted in the late 1970's, affectionately named the Halbury Angel. Now a respectable number of tourists from all over the globe visit the town to immerse themselves in angel mania. There are countless makeshift Halbury Angel museums, angel-themed themed gift shops set up in front rooms, and even Halbury Angel tours to hunt for the creature itself, although don't be surprised if the angel turns out to be a man in a bedsheet. No refunds!

You are a tourist exploring a mysterious and seemingly abandoned caravan park in search of wifi and a place to stay. During your time there, you'll have to solve puzzles and complete tasks to turn on the power, find out where to rent a room from and discover the mystery of the caravan park. You might even get a good selfie with the angel if you're lucky!

When will the game be released?

Pff, I dunno but I've set a goal of the end of April 2024.

Will it be free?

Yes, you won't even need to pirate it or anything!
