SHMUP concept // Devlog part 1

So for my new game, I decided that I wanted to make a SHMUP inspired by the gameboy game "Solar Striker". Each stage represents a place in space, descending in altitude, with the final boss being underground. To spice it up, I want the player to have a special ability but I don't know what it will be yet. I  have some early concept art.
