References in FirstWinds‼️‼️
references + explanations in chronological order w/ a rating of how obscure (i think) said reference is to all the uncs out there: 1(everyone knows ts) to 10 (wth u know ball????)
- Severance: 3/10, a show on Apple TV that "follows employees at Lumon Industries, a biotechnology corporation, that have undergone "severance"—a procedure that splits a person's memories between work and their personal life. This creates two separate identities for employees: the "innie", who has no knowledge of the outside world, and the "outie", who lives their life outside without any knowledge of their job." - wiki
- Stupid Baka: 1/10, the test was a stupid baka ok?
- Bare Gerber: 6/10 Toronto slang, Bare- really/huge/very Gerber-weirdo/genuinely new to ts/ lil bro(derogatory) ex: https://www.tiktok.com/@torontotide/video/7474759329099435269?lang=en
- “Something something _…” 5/10, used to reference something the speaker didn't understand, care enough about what was said to remember the exact words, or care enough to relay the full message. In this case, Carrick didn’t care enough to recite the whole reference(s) given that Blake already knew what they meant.
- Pink elephant: 3/10, the saying of when somebody asks you not to think of a pink elephant, but you can’t help but think of it. In other words, saying that you’re the one that made me think of that shit.
- Get put on a tree: 6/10, another way of telling someone to kill (specifically hang) themselves. I kinda thought ts up on my own but with context clues…
- Reception lady’s mess up: more of a fun fact thing but when I write long forms of content like scripts (and what you’re reading right now) I use dictation text (speech to text) so while saying her lines I messed up irl but decided to keep it in 😛
- 6 to 7 floors: 6/7, it’s 67 😛
- Nize that beak: 6/10, Toronto slang, means to shut up/ close your mouth
- Crodie: 5/10, also Toronto slang, same thing as bro/pal
- Twin: 1/10, best friend
- Fumble: 0/10, mess something up
- “Ooh that’s why your eyes look like that”: 6/10, there was a saying/myth that eating alot of carrots make eyes yellow. Blake assumed it was Jaundice.
- Doing tricks on it: 5/10, making fun of someone -> getting on someone -> hopping on their meat (dick) -> doing tricks on it (like how someone would skillfully ride actual meat)
- Croskilitious: croski but more
- Unc: 2/10, anyone who needs this post to understand FirstWinds, someone old
- RNG: 7/10, stands for a random number generator, i usually hear it in context to Roblox gambling, good RNG means getting lucky.
- Dawggie: 7/10, dawg but lengthened. Also Toronto slang but sometimes used in the US as a comedic exaggeration of dawg ex: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DPwlI7-gIXt/?igsh=MWl3YmZzc3J3d3l3NA== (i know they spell it like doggy but i like 2 spell it like dawggie)
- Fisherboy: 6/10, Blake thinks Carrick is fishing for compliments so he calls him a fisherboy (variation of fisherman)
- “the worst person you know just had a very original comeback to that” 9/10 I gave it a 9 out of of 10 because it goes away quickly so you don’t get that much time to see it but Blake basically told her to get a better rod, and while writing, I already knew that there is going to be someone out there who is going to think/make a dick joke out of that
- “He’s kinda homeless”: 7/10, Carrick also referencing the speed clip of the kid saying that his mom is kind of homeless, that’s why Blake replied with “please speed I need this” ex: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTrfyVWPb/
- Geographic equality: 9/10, since the variety has more so to do with species than race in a furry universe I was thinking that racism would come from where their species originated from geographically
- Food-twinning: 5/10, using the word tweeting as discussed earlier as a suffix, Garrick‘s basically saying that they had ordered from the same place
- Tuah: 2/10, hawk tuah
- Morals aren’t tested in comfort: 6/10, a saying that basically means that anybody can seem like a good person when they’re comfortable enough. But when they get put into a situation that has higher stakes (for Carrick that’s interacting with people other than Blake and now Davie) their true colors start to show.
- “You got a mouth don’t you? use it.”: 5/10, I also could see a lot of people taking this in a sexual way, like carrick did, but it made him uncomfortable.
- “Rest in Peace to Kobe Bryant should’ve been Blake Brummel”: 10/10, I really hoped somebody would’ve figured this out but basically it’s a reference to a viral TikTok sound/SoundCloud song with the famous line “rest in peace to Cameron Boyce should’ve been Jack Doherty” ex: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTrfyuVHY/
- Liam McCay: 8/10, a slowcore music artist he’s one of my favorite artists ever you really need to go check his music out and I am IRL super soaked for his new SCM (sign crushes motorist) album to come out!! The thought was triggered by him saying “Take Care” which is also one of Liam McCay’s projects. putting yall onto peak rn: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6QPa4bD8u2HiZfZFGWvMy7?si=4PB7MKSTSlqYEAHW5Qme...
- “Oh thank God that makes a lot more sense”: Carrick didn’t come out with typical interview attire which made Dave be worried but when he said that it was [closedbracket], it made more sense for a character dress the way he did
- “Pawnshop and CVS”: 67/10, you’ll see.
if theres anything u think i missed dont 4get 2 tell me!! ♥
