Totally worth 5 stars. Great art, charcters and writing! I like the darker, more mature tone, with bits of wit sprinkled in to lighten the mood. But, erm, Cirrus? I've only got 2 words: messed-up and creepy, lol!
Possible spoiler, but not really? In Francesco's route, when they're talking to the bouncer before entering the club, there's a sudden few seconds of loud heartbeat. Is that supposed to be there? It seems like it's not supposed to be there till later inside the club...
I have been trying to get on Oleander's and Franceso's path for a while now and I tried to use to the other's information about getting on their path but with no use. The only path's I have done is Keir and Cirrus so if any one can tell me I would appreciate it.
If you don't have the option to leave then you're playing in an old version of the game and will need to download the updated version. You'll keep your saves and unlocked endings and CGs when you download the new version. We do recommend starting Francesco and Oleander's route from a fresh start, though, to avoid any possible bugs.
The new version is the only one available at the moment. Download the Chapter 1.5 version here on itch.io (that build hasn't made it to Steam yet) and unzip it and you should be all set with the newest build.

With that, depending on which choices you choose when you enter the building, you might meet either one of them. you can just go on Oleander’s route but not accept the job offer, then you’ll automatically get on Fran’s route. Or choose the option to meet the wealthy stranger after you get into the tavern
For those who are in desperate need of help for Francesco's route with the purse, I will come to your aid:
First, go to the bar. The bartender will drop a hint.
After that, you have to go to the dark corner. I think you have to look in these two spots, not necessarily in that order, before finally going to the front, where the sound stage is. The thief's masks will lie there.
Finding the masks should unlock a "center of the crowd" option.
there were a million things i could've guessed about what shady things cirrus was involved in AND NONE OF IT WOULD'VE BEEN CLOSE TO WHAT IT REALLY WAS (love the game sm tho <3) cant wait for the next update :)
Iirc, the devs mentioned, on their tumblr, that we will get to eventually see the lis's bare faces at different points in their routes.
I think them unmasking for the mc will be an emotional scene, that will most likely occur only near the end of their routes. 👀
In the meantime, here's a a fun question for anyone who wants to speculate, here in the comments, what do you think everyone's eye colour(s) are?

Seeing as Keir's a ginger, his eyes are probably green or blueish. As for Oleander, well, the man is just unpredictable. Idk if unnatural eye colors exist in this universe, but I could imagine him with something like bright yellow?
this game is seriously amazing. to the plot, dialogue and character designs. THE SOUNDTRACK IS GODLY. im literally dancing rn. PLEASE RELEASE A SONDTRACK ON YOUTUBE OR SOMETHING THE MUSIC IS TOO GOOD. ESPECIALLY AT OLEANDERS PART.
Replaying the update again and i just have to comment on all the detail i really loved in Oleander’s route. On my first play i noticed that every time you go to the Sateen Vesper finds different things to choose from, but i didn’t expect there to be that many different interesting items. So of course, i had to replay until i find all them ( loved the tiny Vesper hooded doll ). And the way Oleander found a way to flirt with Vesper almostno matter what they brought, just chef’s kiss, he’s so much fun. I highly recommend everyone to read through all the different trinkets you can get.
But that aside, the entire update is so incredible. I love Vesper even more than i already did, and i can feel the love the devs put in them as well. The artwork is phenomenal as well, Fran is so pretty ( thank you for making Vesper mention it on multiple occasions, we all were thinking it) and Oleander’s sprites are so expressive!! Big probs to the music composer as well, i don’t usually play games with sound on, but having it played in the background here was quite pleasant and added to the atmosphere a lot. Tack så mycket för sån underbar spel<3
Can someone help me? I updated the game last night and I'm playing right now, but none of the choices have changed and i'm not sure which variation would work. I'm trying to meet Francesco and no choices pop up for him until after the 2nd visit with Cirrius.
I love the protagonist personality so much! Vesper is sarcastic, witty and so much fun.. you usually don't get to play as such an interesting character in visual novels! and of course I love Keir with all my heart <3 <3
i love love love this so much actually ,, might be one of the best vns I've ever played up to date !! i really like the tiny details and the amount of consideration put in for the players (the safeword and aftercare spaces were very nice and sweet !! really appreciated) the way we could modify things to our needs was a really kind touch, thank you !!
the story is so interesting and the plot just pulls you in, so many questions !! i love lore !! the music fits so well with the vibe of the game, and don't get me started on the amazing art !!! its so so well made and one of my fav things was the way the saved files were named different things depending on which part you saved at, really cool !!!
and of course the characters ,, OOGHH the characters .. i love them all so much they're all so different but at the same time each of their routes were so so interesting !! (oleander and keir have my heart) the different kinds of dialogue and banter between the player and the characters were also really enjoyable to read !!

I followed the directions for Cirrus's good ending and just get his neutral one over and over. Feeling blue balled here lol it's really testing my characters 'I'll do anything to get what I need' temperament.
just choose the feel pleasure after the prayer option scene and then the “i loved it” right after, then in the end obey when he’s about to do his hanky spanky.
I'm enjoying the newest chapter a lot! but i keep getting an "exception occured" screen when using they/them pronouns on oleander's route. idk if this is an me issue or something else.
Omg I'm so happy with the new characters!!! I already got all the endings to Keir and Cirrus and I'm still working on Franceso and I haven't started on Oleander yet but oml he is so pretty.
So far my favorite character from this game has to be Franceso, he is literally so sweet he makes my heart melt. He is a bit naive but luckily MC isn't and is able to guide him.

Fran is such a sweetheart and honestly, the protagonist is so strong for pulling them out of the club when things were starting to get... heated. I would've folded so fast tbh.
And Oleander, I love his cocky attitude. He's definitely a character that got me hooked instantly. I love how charismatic he is and I'm really interested to see how the next chapter goes.
LASTLY,,, I LOVE THE ARTWORK SO MUCH?? ITS JUST PERFECT. it makes me wonder if Obscura will always be a free game. If not, I totally understand and would not mind spending any money on the project in the future
I played Cirrus route before, and with 1.5, I played Oleander's. I loved it, he's so tall, I was not expecting that. XD Vesper's new cloak was very pretty, and it matched the mask I gave him so well. I can't wait for more.
I absolutely love this! The writing, the pace, the art, all of it is beautifully well done. I've played all of the routes! Well, I personally couldn't make it through Cirrus's due to past and sometimes current bad religious memories/experiences in reality. I expected it though considering the tags, haha; but I wanna mention that I really appreciate the safe word option. Now, that, I didn't expect. It was a nice surprise and refresher.
I finished everyone else's route, however! Keir is hands down my favorite.
I can't wait to continue his route in the next chapter. In my opinion, I feel he and Vesper have more chemistry and neutral, healthy connection. I love their banter too and, really, I have far more sympathy and understanding for Keir out of the other characters.
I also enjoy how mouthy Vesper is, but it's not an "edgy, loud, not-like-everyone-else" type of snark to me. More like, simply, not a pushover. Which is tough to achieve. At least, in my experience. I'm a fictional writer myself, and even I have trouble with properly writing such a personality in a character.
Now, being a pushover definitely seems like something you should never be in the mountains if you want to survive. This game got that message across real well too. It also seems like something a person (being Vesper) with enough guts to go into the mountains so they could gain what they need for such an awful curse would turn out to, inevitably, be like. Understanding and kind, but knows how to stand their ground and give some snark when they feel is necessary.
Speaking of which, their slightly snarky comments are all around funny and clever; you really hit the nail on the head with making a loveable, inclusive MC that doesn't sit silent on the sidelines and has strong ambition to achieve their goal. I'm a sucker for "I'll do absolutely anything to get what I need" protagonists. Even when they're very well aware that they'll most likely have to tackle the most unfortunate obstacles and circumstances along the way.
I also absolutely adore the idea of a masked and cloaked MC. The mask I chose was the white floral one. Adore the mask theme in general; I'll be recommending this to a close friend of mine who is a bigger fan of the concept of masks than me. I'm sure that she'll be over the moon and excited for this game just as I am.
Seriously, what an awesome, unique, and incredibly intriguing story. I don't know how I can express how much of a fan I've become of it any better; and it's only the first chapter! You gained a new follower on tumblr, and I'll be keeping up with updates as best I can. Five stars!
some spoilers⬇️ just played the update, the music and words are still so gorgeous🥰(tbh for me non english-native it's still a bit hard to read) Fran becomes my favorite boy (before is Cirrus since I'm switch() Though there may some darkness behind him, he is sweet now and that's enough.(And the design of his underwear? really caught me, love it so much🥰) And Oleander is also charismatic, since he is related with Keir, wondering whether there are more such connection among all of them. Hi! The Ending Guide pdf we've included should have a description of the choices you need to make handle that challenge (or, it tells you the wrong choices to get the bad ending, and you just do the opposite to keep going). But if you're looking for a little more information:
The purse theft scene has a hidden counter and you have to find all the clues to the thief's location before that counter runs out. There are three clues to find and you get five chances to find them. The characters will tell you if you're on the right track or not. If a new choice shows up in the search menu, that means you've found all the clues and can take that choice to finish the scene!

When there is a ruckus outside the church there are the options to hide in the church, stay and watch what happens, or to leave. If you leave, you'll be in the place to start Oleander and Francesco's routes!

Cirrus might have harsh grey eyes. Very light grey and kind of creepy looking!

Hi! The Ending Guide pdf we've included should have a description of the choices you need to make handle that challenge (or, it tells you the wrong choices to get the bad ending, and you just do the opposite to keep going). But if you're looking for a little more information:
The purse theft scene has a hidden counter and you have to find all the clues to the thief's location before that counter runs out. There are three clues to find and you get five chances to find them. The characters will tell you if you're on the right track or not. If a new choice shows up in the search menu, that means you've found all the clues and can take that choice to finish the scene!
