Monster Ambassador: Twisted Lands & Evil Plans


Welcome back! 

  Quest ahead into the badlands
(spoilers ahead!)



New Monster Species

Once again, the best part of the release was designing new monster species! Three new faces join the crowd this time; the Lich and Quetzicals are available to befriend and meet back at the embassy.

The Lich's wardrobe was designed to mimic a skeleton in appearance, while being worn around a physical form. The long chain down the front hangs as a spine, and the Lich wear an assortment of found bones around it.


My initial pass at the Arachne was after almost a month away from character design, and I felt like I hit some serious art block a long the way. A while later, I went back and cleaned up her look to something I was more satisfied with!



Quest Log

The quests in Monster Ambassador started out as a simple one-off idea; you discover the Lamia palace in the forest, and retrieve an item from their ancient guardian. Since then, the plot has grown to span the length of the land; taking you deep into caves, sailing the ocean with pirates, into the jungle, and now to the distant unfriendly badlands. 

To help players on their quest, I created a guide in the Wiki that details the steps to completing the main quest.

Now I'm happy to have a feature that can help players in-game; a quest log that updates with each new area and quest unlocked!



 


Battle Design

Seduce
Talk
Intimidate

These core actions are what got through to each monster, depending on whether that species was sexual, social, or strong respectively. 
Good in concept, but in practice it broke down; especially when facing against boss creatures, interactions didn't always feel like they were truly matching the options given. 



These new options are easier to read, and make sense with a larger range of replies; you don't have to be specifically intimidating to be angry, or seductive to be suggestive. A small change, but one I've been looking to implement for a while. Plus, they're cute!


New Biome

The quest takes us up to the Twisted lands this time; a hazy, dangerous local that sucks the energy from you with every step.




The Final Touches

Bugfixes, NSFW scenes, wiki updates; all the usual-
and thanks to a few requests, a Mac build is now available for download!

Is there in anyway you'll plan to bring this in mobile

I'm soft locked, I've encountered and beaten the ice wraith multiple times yet the winter quest won't finish once I return to the embassy. In the same save, I also can't move (the arrows don't respond) in the embassy in the final room before the back yard, I can't talk to the lamias or the lyinxes and once I entered the cervan temple, I can't do anything besides watch (not even exit).

Edit: I've restarted and all I can find in the forest are the palace and the savannah, I can't access the mountains (I've tried many times), nce I found the temple, the screen only let me see the quest list after the cutscene of the blob thing. Am I doing something wrong?

hiyas, i played through your last build and aside form the means you save the game via the code system for saving and loading character data, i really enjoyed the game but updating to this version i noticed that in this build it's completely disabled. X_X it's kinda dishearting

Thanks for noticing that! It didn't get switched on when I swapped between the last builds; save features are accessible again.
