I really enjoyed the game. The writing is lovely, the characters feel very alive, I am SO invested in each one's relationship with one another, the office work, Nina's personal life. I would love more, and I hope to one day get it!

The way that feelings and entities are handled here is very unique - it's one of my favorite concepts in both mythology and horror (that emotions, events, what we take away from them and how we simmer with them over time can have a life of its own, to summarize). The art is gorgeous, and I love the little investigation sequences where you can look at different items around the home.

The multiple endings, including the true end, all felt very purposeful and important - each one just furthers Hugo's ties to the world, to his own 'curse', to the other characters.

A lot is said in 13k words - no small feat! Thank you SO much for this game!! I cannot wait for more!

This. Game Was. Amazing!!!

Describing it without spoilers, this game is a work of art. Though it was a bit short, only 2-3 hrs of gameplay, it was some of the best 3 hours I've ever spent!

The lineless art style is so endearing, it looks and feels like a storybook. And the lore. THE LOREEEE! It runs deeper than that goddamn lake. (yes, that is a reference to this game.)

Overall, 9/10 game for me! Loses a point because it's so short and much is left unexplained, but the devs are planning to add more, and I'm very excited for it!

If you're thinking about playing this game, you really should! Also, Colby is best boi. :3

I might actually go crazy from how good this is.

The characters are all so likable and interesting. The story is very nice, I really liked the small plot about Hugo having the *redacted*. The art and editing of the scenes were so pleasing and good, it felt really polished. Also the dynamic between Hugo and Noah was a really really nice cherry on top.

Really Highly Unbelievably Recommend 👍👍👍👍

(also wishing for a sequel about Hugo's *redacted*)

I don’t want to seem rude or too critical, and I'm sorry if I will, but, with truly beautiful visuals (seriously, one of the most beautiful visual novels I’ve played, although this was noted in almost all reviews) and good music, the story... well, it’s not that good in my opinion. The characters seemed rather clichéd to me, as did the whole story. In addition, the game is not horror at all. I think the game lacks... ingenuity or maybe uniqueness, in terms of plot. And again - only my opinion, nothing more.

This game was amazing to play. My only gripe with this is that it is too short. There was potential to expand more on the mystery but dind't which saddens me :( It ending early left me with a feeling of longing (heh). Wish the game was lioger but still good! I'm definitely waiting for more games by them! And honestly, i love the charming pretty boy × too tired for A's bullshit dynamic Noah and Hugo have.

This game is great in every single way. I love the characters interaction. The drawing is magnifique. Everything is a piece of art.

Anyway, I translated this game to spanish. Just asking if there is a way for me to send it to you people.

such a beautiful game! I'm obsessed with the art direction, and i really enjoyed the characters

hi! amazing game!! i had fun playing it and the art style is incredibly nice and soft but also eerie in just the right scenes! the characters personalities are also very interesting, and i loved the silly role colby had :)

Hello! I'm not quite sure if it's a bug, but around 10 minutes into the story the game starts lagging and freezing, and I have to fix it by saving and exiting and then re-opening the game again. Though it's not that big of a deal for me, it just really ruins the mood... This game is interesting, and it really gives me a lot of inspiration for my vision of being a game developer as well. I really want to be able to play the game smoothly! I play on a BenQ monitor, not windows, so I'm not sure if that's really the problem. Thanks in advance!

Included this in my recap of best indie horror games I played in January 2024.  Thanks for the fun visual novel!

 a blast playing this game

Hi, I'd like to volunteer to translate your game from English into Brazilian Portuguese.

I'm a sucker of great (lowkey gay) tropes, and this game just has it good. Great direction with a distinct art style. Although I knew how the story may end right away, I was still amazed by how well implemented each facet of the game was. The music is lovely. I had to go through the music box and credits to search for their source because it fully immersed me in the intensity of this story. Can't wait to play what else this studio has planned!

I had a blast playing this game! the story is so well written, I fell in love with the art and atmosphere of it, it feels like I was fully immersed into it. I really look forward to your future games & stories to come!

THIS GAME IS AMAZING! You guys are ridiculously talented! I'm sticking around for the possible sequel!

Had a lot of fun with this!  Visual novels aren't really in my wheelhouse to begin with, so it was fun to branch out and give it a shot.

POTENTIAL SPOILERS:

Would like to see some of the early story points expanded on - namely the brief mention of heirs disappearing.  Also thought the housekeeper might have had a role beyond the opening sequence, but that's really more of a sidenote and not detrimental to the story at all.

Overall, I feel like the story was executed well.  It did seem to drag a bit in places, but that might just come down to a matter of personal preference.  It was an engaging narrative and provided plenty of details early on to get the player invested in uncovering the mystery.

Thanks for the experience!

This is my first time playing Stillwater, and I am already hooked for the next adventure of Hugo. I really love the story of grief and forgiveness of the mystery with its uses of symbolism related to water and how well written the characters are. I love the illustrations of the game as well the uses of colors for certain scenes to convey its grief aspects, as well love seeing all of the concepts sketches of everything!

Absolutely love the remastered version! I wasn't too sure what else could be improved upon in the original but after playing through the newest version, I have to say I love the dialogue, extra scenes, added lore, and more professional graphics. Practically screamed when I saw a confirmed sequel in the creator's  notes. Definitely looking forward to the next one!
