The hand in Fork lifter is slightly out of place before it flicks

Heya! I was just wondering how to play Heaven Studio using Linux, I'm super new to it, I don't know what to put in the terminal and stuff, pls help lol. I really wanna play your game, I've seen lots of cool stuff so far!!

Open a terminal and cd into the directory where you downloaded the .zip file, something like:

$ cd ~/Downloads

Extract the .zip file using a program like 7z (make sure to install it using your package manager if not already installed). Command should look like:

$ 7z x HeavenStudioLinux.zip

This will create a .tar file. Extract that file also using 7z:

$ 7z x *.tar

This creates a directory called 'build'. cd into there and into the subdirectory. There you'll find a file called 'Heaven Studio' (use `ls` to check). Make this file executable like so:

$ chmod +x Heaven\ Studio

And finally run the program:

$ ./Heaven\ Studio

I've been waiting for this since it was in early development and when I saw that trailer in December, I tweaked out. Just made a remix 5 minutes ago and it was so fun to do so. I just have one question though, what type of controllers are currently being supported?

Switch, PS4, and PS5 controllers currently work! We're working on more support for the future though, for stuff like XBOX controllers and even Wiimotes :)

I tried it on a Puppy Linux (fossapup64) computer and it's not working. It opens, and a split second later, it closes. I am using a Dell Inspiron One 2020 with 4gb ram. Can you fix this?

Hello, maybe the issue is that you have 4 gigabytes of ram. Try getting a computer with more ram. Thank you.

yes, please get more ram op!! 16 gigs will do you plenty of good

it does work on my laptop which has 6gb of ram. I’m pretty much ruling it down to the OS now, the puppy Linux version I have is pretty janky imo

oh honey, rhythm heaven maker released, and its free!

Can i know what games are in update 2 please?

This has the potential to be the best thing to come out of rhythm heaven since megamix. I hope this sees lots of success.

Got it working fine on macOS. Really excited to see where you go with this - provided you-know-who doesn't stomp it.

(Also pulling it for Linux, to see if I can get it going on my impending Pi 5 build...)

Made this account for the sole purpose of saying this is the best thing since rhmegamix. It's real similar to adobe premiere which I like, and if you know the basics of that, its super easy to use! I love that you can customize basically every single thing, I know I'm gonna be using this a lot 🤤 I'd suggest something but chances are there's plans to add it later anyways lol, can't wait to see what else we get!

I do have one question though, how do you auto play inside a game rather than the editor? I wanna get a clip of my entire remix with the prologue but I don't want it to look weird with me messing up.

MacOS Tutorial

Hello all Mac users! Can confirm that RHS works on Mac! Follow these steps:

Extract ZIP file to desktop / downloads, drill down until you find the Heaven Studio (the app), then move HS to Applications folder in Finder. From there, launch game. When you press "Play" a finder window will appear to allow you to select games. Navigate back to the extracted folder and open a game under the Levels folder.

Hope this helps!

Tested on M1 MPB.

Message me for questions.

I think the issue is with older Mac versions.

How do I open files (.riqs adn audio) with RHS? (on mac)

the play button isn't doing anything on mac

wait, how can I open it on Windows?

maybe you need to unzip then open the exe, idk

Doesn't recognize my Xbox controller on windows?

No XBOX controller support currently! Sorry

h

this game is an h/10

that means its GREAT

(+3)

Would be nice if I had a tutorial to use the editor.

(+6)

My first issue is there is no instructions for which button does which action. This doesn't feel like a learning curve when I first have to learn the controls. Some instructions would be nice at least so I don't have to do the same song dozens of times just to learn which button does what.

(+4)(-5)

Heaven Studio won’t include any tutorials for existing Rhythm Heaven games. It is not a replacement for official games, and therefore does require knowledge of the original games. Any games NOT from the Rhythm Heaven series, such as Meat Grinder and Rhythm Sōmen, will get their own practices.

(+4)

I would think there should at least be a controls tutorial/guide, especially where the official control scheme of a game (i.e. Rockers having a hold-and-flick touch screen system in DS) is entirely different from how it works in Studio. Even just a controls-list readme like "in DJ School, hold A to stop the record, then [insert action here] to Scratch-O" would go a long way to help.

Requiring prior knowledge of the official games to know how to play a game well is fine. Requiring trial-and-error to figure out which inputs do what game actions is a bit much.

Nice first update! Also, Can you add Fillbots in Update 2 please? It's my favorite game.

(+1)

Add a toggle for English and Japanese vocals, please.

(1 edit)

maybe also spanish for the ds games?

(+2)

Planned, eventually! Right now we're using sort of a mish-mash of english and japanese, but eventually you'll be able to freely toggle between them, per-game

(+8)

Wanted to ask if there was any support for modifying the input delay.  I could just be bad at the game (I'd like to think I'm good at Rhythm Heaven, lol), but I think being able to adjust the timing, either by a calibration or just a adjusting a millisecond setting, esp. for a PC rhythm game, would be a good quality of life feature.

(+5)

I second this. I gave most of the default remixes a try as a Rhythm Heaven veteran—first with a controller, and then with the keyboard. Neither changed the fact that doing what felt natural to me led to most inputs being registered as "too late", with noticeable improvements when I'd force myself to hit the button slightly ahead of time.

Needless to say, that's...not really the most pleasant way to play a rhythm game 😅

(1 edit)

Rhythm heaven fundamentally does not work with calibration. the visual and audio feedback of all minigames would essentially require turning back time if we wanted to implement offset unlike other games where the input can be easily changed or set late. We do eventually plan on implementing a custom audio engine a-la Bits & Bops to reduce latency to almost nothing, though.

On Mac, the play button doesn’t work, I can still (and did) create a functioning remix….

works on my Mac! (2021, OS 14.1.1)

(+1)

i tried playing this on steam deck and it seems to not detect the steam decks controller layout so i had to use  keyboard settings instead. Just thought that would be a good thing to bring up.

Yeah I've been encountering the same issue

(+1)

Loving this so far. Are there any plans to have an in-game remix selector by any chance?

(+9)

please make a tutorial level! I baerly know what half of the minigames button inputs are!! :(

(1 edit)

For Some Reason, I can't play any levels, select music, or open any files from the last build on my Mac Download.

Is it possible to open it on mobile?

No mobile version right now or for the foreseeable future, sorry.

Thx for finale releasing this! :) this fan game was so good!

Where can we share our remixes?

The discord is the best place to do that currently!

Just To Confirm, The Linux Build Is 64 Bit?

32 Bit Linux Is Still Being Actively Released So It's Important To Note.

(ALSO Sorry For Originally Accidentally Posting This Comment On The Dev Log)

Yup it's 64 bit Linux!

It might be a good idea to categorize it as "Linux x86_64"  or "Linux amd64"

Woo full release!

I am so ready to use this. I've been waiting for so long (Rhythm Doctor refference)

is there a tutorial on how to use the editor? trying to use it myself and it wont let me put any of the minigames. idk if its not working or if i missed some directions
