Possible Future of this Project

Thanks a lot to all who tested the demo and gave their feedback already!
For now I wait and see how the reception will be over the next months.
But the plan for now is  to continue working on it.

I can't believe the new demo is actually out for quite a time, hoping there's a way to transfer the save file!

(1 edit)

Sadly that isn't possible.
There are just too many things that got changed from the first demo so using old save data sadly leads to corruption.
Sorry for the trouble -_-

It's alright, I'm having fun with the new version of the demo :D, now if only i remember the password from the version, i'm having a bad feeling that password is needed for a dragon tf.

(1 edit)

Glad to hear that^^
Nah I wouldn't do such a cruel thing xD
Everything is obtainable, the password only unlocks one single piece of equipment and dialogue and can be gotten after beating the demo.
There is nothing missable : )

(+1)

Now that's nice to know, also, i see you added the bonus form from the last demo into the game :D

(1 edit)

Yup this time it made it in with a story and all^^
As well as a lot new forms and content, so have fun : )

Really liked this update! Especialy squirrel and wolf stories!

Thanks!
Glad to hear that you like them^^

Your project so far is great. I personally am a fan of the episodic unlocking of the forms, and they all contributing something to the exploration of the game. My only gripe is that some forms are really cryptic, being cat / golden retriever and finding the elf took me a while because i didnt notice that the area was open

also the manticore section was good i'd like if there was more to it

Thanks glad to hear you like it^^
Yeah I do see that, they are a lot harder to find.
Also did you know you can get hints on where to find all forms, in the forest where the Nana wakes up as a fox? Just want to know if you knew that so I get a better understanding if I maybe should add a few more hints.

If you have any suggestions for a few good spots or ideas for hints you are welcomed to share!

(+1)

I did know about the hints before i found those, i think that for the cat hint, it should include a line about it being in the residential area, while the golden retriever one should include a line about owning land, and maybe an addition of a  required to pass area in the starter forest where you have to push a barriacde to the side to progress.

for the elf, you could add a check while in golden retriever form of  nana saying something about an interesting scent north of the city.

Thanks a lot or the suggestions! I have rewrote the cat and golden retriever ones to:

"A rundown building inside the town is what you are searching for.
Afterwards a relaxing bath in your own home might be the right thing to do."

"Buy a ring from a shady merchant in the northern part of town.
This merchant can be found in the residential area at night."

I like your idea with the scent and added it as well but thought it may be too missable so I came up with something more. For the Northern Plains I came up with a new dialogue that triggers at the Guild if the requirments have met since most people would often visit there.

"You gotten pretty strong Nana.
You should be able to explore the northern plains now too. But be careful, the monsters there are in bigger groups and stronger."

What do you think of these changes?

(+1)

Sounds great! I think the sign at the entrance of the area should be moved past the point of where you recruit the elf however, so people dont turn back once they read it.

Oh good point! Will do that as well^^

I personally disagree with these people say the story isn't good or the combat either. Like others have said here spelling and grammar can be fixed (let's be honest English is a tuff language). I personally like the combat of the game with my only issue being that the buffs and debuffs can be a bit much (mostly the number of them, with larger groups of enemies, but tbh that is more of just an inconvenience than an issue which can be solved by just taking longer turns to think on what to do and read all the stuff). Although I haven't made it very far in the game yet I rather enjoy it. To be honest I am rather impressed with the amount of stuff already in a game made by one person. I can see the amount of stuff to keep track of can be overwhelming for others which is what I think they don't like. The story that I have seen so far is good, I don't really understand these people. Btw where did you get these comments I didn't see any on here.

(2 edits)

Yeah, grammar can be easily fixed when errors are pointed out. The time waste for buff skills at the start of battle definitely is something more people mentioned and I do think its a very good point. This should be a lot better now with the new update, feedback is welcomed! That could be true the game does a have a lot to keep track of. Those werent comments but two full and very lengthy reviews that a friend on discord showed to me after he had shared my game demo. with some people.

Also glad to hear you enjoying it soo far and thanks^^
I decided to keep working on it after so many more voiced their opinions as well.
Sorry for the trouble!

It's ok and there is a good chance those people that reviewed just don't like this style of a game (but idk I didn't read their reviews). I don't see the buff skills as a time waste but whatever it's not a big deal (at least to me). On a less related note I remember seeing a comment one the art style and I agree with your response with everyone having different tastes (my taste being full anthro or Kemonomimi, so the fox and kitsune forms are in a interesting mix of the 2 that I don't like, but that is my taste and not everything is going to be something I like). foxes and kitsune happen to be my favorites.

I agree, using the buff skills also never bothered me personally too but I though it couldn't hurt to implment a option to fasten it a bit for those who like to save a little bit of time.

Yeah I agree, its definitely is impossible to tailor something like that to everyones tastes. Fun Fact: I actually intended to add a picture of a complete furry fox form when Nana has "Fluffy Fur" stacks left and switch it to the mixed form when she has no stacks left. I scraped that idea in the end but I maybe bring it back someday, its just a visual thing anyway. Besides that I have plans to add a furry nine tailed kitsune form in since i think it would be fun.
Also this is a very good taste, they are my favorites as well<3
Thats the reason my game has a lot of Kistune characters in it xD

10 out of 10 and would love to see that. The fox art changing as you get more fluffy would be amazing and make since for its ability. I look forward to the kitsune stuff too but find this game really nice. I can wait to see all the fun things to come as the game progresses. Maybe you could even throw in some cursed artifacts for fun idk.

Maybe I do add it later on sicne there is no reason to not do it I think.
And great to hear!

I definitely want a cursed artifact for at least one tf! It would offer a nice and different setting as well for that story^^

Thanks for your kind words! Glad to hear you could enjoy it^^ Nah, I am just a single person I don't think I can go any bigger but I may pick this project back up again if I find some way to make it more enjoyable!

I think it's a great game a should be brought back out in full release with a little more effort about the implementation as well bugs, spelling, & grammar errors.  With time and patience, it will be an even better game so please don't give up hope. Also, you don't need to make everyone happy and go with their preferences. Because for one there is roughly 8 billion people in the world so it's relatively impossible to make them all happy.  Just focus on toughs who are interested in this kind of stuff. Find the people who will stand up for you, as well as by you, add help however they can.  Good luck & God bless your journey.

Besides it's hard making a game on your own if that's what you've been doing. If so, get team together and try again. But if have a team already just keep trying until it's ready.

(1 edit)

Thanks a lot for your feedback and nice words! And you are definitely right, it's impossible to make everyone happy! It's just that a lot of people voiced the same problem and i do think they have solid points. The writing could be a lot more intriguing and there are a lot of spelling mistakes since English isn't my native language and I am just in general not that great at writing. I fear this is the best I am able to create gameplay and writing wise.

I used a few free to use scripts for some things but yes, I actually made it all alone by myself over the last two years. Yeah it's a good suggestion but I sadly don't have the resources or know people to make a team.
But still thanks a lot for your feedback and glad to hear you still enjoyed it^^

English is my native language and I still make plenty of mistakes both in writing and speaking. But that can to anybody like me that have ADD/ ADHD or other mental disabilities. Ever some people who have them make mistakes. It's part of being human. But suggest that you make another attempt when greater resources are available. I also suggest going to conventions where likeminded and talented people gather. Who knows you might get lucky and find what and who you need to progress your vision for this and other games. Also, I would provide my own aid if my resources weren't limited as well.

We will see!
And thanks^^

What particular problem was voiced? I kinda missed it. Bad English is correctable and even games from native speakers have them, so I don't think that should be a cause for stopping development. Otherwise, for story development, you might want to look at https://discord.me/writersblock where people do help out with writing.

Otherwise, if it is a problem with the gameplay itself, you can simply go back to drawing board. Since you have a prototype you can plug in an replacement engine, saving yourself time.

(1 edit)

I agree, spelling mistakes as bugs can easily be corrected once found by someone. The problem mainly voices in two reviews were that the story and writing were uninteresting and the combat design was not that fun. I am very creative and have plenty of ideas but I definitely can see that the writing might be not that good since I am not a writer but I didn't thought it was this bad. And in the end I just thought of sharing my game since I had fun making and playing it and thought others might too.

Maybe you could be right, I am not too knowledgeable outside of the rpg maker maker engine, I do like to stay on this engine since I am working with it now for years and think I have a decent understnad how to make things with it but thanks for the suggestion^^

I didn't mean with engine to switch the computer engine, but the game loop. There is one aspect which is somewhat annoying, namely the need to activate all buffs manually at the beginning of the fight. Granted, not all buffs make sense then, but anything you could activate without losing a turn and not needing taken damage or spent SP would benefit from a shortcut. Also, the reset of the focus to the starting point of the wheel is unnecessary - I want to start other buffs and having to scroll again to the category is just wasting time. Or the prices for food seem a bit out of whack, considering you can buy land or a couple of chicken meat (is there a way to cook that stuff?).

But those are more nitpicks in the grand scheme. Not sure if there is an issue for others in the greater game loop. Writingwise I don't have found issues with it by itself. It seems functional and different characters have different voices. Maybe those people have high standards? Maybe I'm less demanding than others? Don't really know. But for spelling mistakes, it would help if you took the text and copied into a word/gdoc file. Then most issues would be caught beforehand.

In general, I am looking forward to your next releases. Creating so many different areas, so many different enemies, so many different transformations and classes along with their abilities and weave everything together into a whole is beyond me. And likely to those who complain. But just because some have dislikes for certain parts, don't lose sight of the parts that deserve praise!
