You did an absolutely fantastic job with this, I've gotta say I was expecting tentacles, but not much in the way of writing I'd take a genuine interest in, those expectations being proven wrong, I'm looking forwards to whatever you do next, and hopefully some potential expansion on this setting in the future.

Have a good one, you did great!

I'm guessing this game is broken on mobile since I can't get out of the pod.

Edit: nvm. I got it to work. Just had to flip my phone to see the control.

The game isn't set up for Mobile, apologies. That would require more knowledge of CSS than I possess to rework the UI down to a suitable format for smaller screens like that. I've been told it works decently well on tablets.

I said it works fine on my phone. I just had to go vertical instead of horizontal. In the horizontal, the controls are out of view.

And as a sidenote, you've done well on this game. Looking forward to seeing what else you do.

I'm trying to spare every boss, is there a way to lower enemy morale besides attacking?

This is situational, actually! Some enemies can't be spared, and it's up to you to figure that out. This mechanic is somewhat diminished in MERCANOID, as it's largely a prototype for my framework.

There are two bosses you can spare, IIRC; the Slammia, and the first phase of the final boss, with the latter having a specific mechanic to drop Morale.

hell of a game, great work all round!

Glad you enjoyed! ♥

(+1)

The writing is incredible, very good job putting the reader there. :  )

Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed. ♥

This game is pretty fun it would be even cooler if there's visual art of the characters, I'm personally enjoys this type of games more when there's at least drawing of the character to help with the immersion while reading.

(+2)

Understandable, but it also wouldn't have been free if I would've had to pay for artists! Cuz I sure as heck can't draw, hah.

(+1)

Okay... I've rescued everyone, my morale's at 100, and I've completed eleven side quests... should I keep hunting for side content or can I move onto Mimi without worrying about extra content?

You probably have everything, then! Did you get Meh, the snake girl? People tend to miss her.

(1 edit) (+1)

No, I don't... but I've neither head nor tail on how to get her, nor where she is. Could I have a hint?

Edit: Nevermind, found her. Got it handled, thanks!

neat game. I liked it.

Glad you enjoyed! ♥

Hello I wanted to ask how prevalent is the mind control aspect in the game is

It features in a few scenes. It's not a central focus, but it's the focus of the scenes in which it appears!

(+1)

Loved this game, the writing is fantastic! Looking forward to your next stuff

Thank you very much, and I'm thrilled you enjoyed the game! I'm hard at work on something new. ♥

Is this perchance inspired by Murderbot?

(+2)

No idea what that is!

MERCANOID started life as a single scene (the Gulper bad end, actually) that I wrote to entertain myself on a trip away from home, aaaand things spiralled from there.

(+1)

Would it be possible for you to make a downloable port for mobile?

Not presently, no, sorry. Don't have the design chops required to redesign this UI to play nicely on a mobile format. It works on a tablet in landscape as-is, but phones would require a signficant overhaul that's beyond me.

Good text game.

ok i just finished the game and overall i loved it but a couple of gripes

1. the game doesn't really explain stats i have no idea what sex appeal or intimidation does don't know how dodge or defense function or are calculates so its a lot of stuff has stats i don't know what those stats do, if they are insignificant or op

2. elemental damage is a system you cant use without knowing the elemental weaknesses and/or resistances of the enemies and far as i see there is no way to find that out making it an almost pointless system

3. skills skills are useful maybe 1-3 times each this is primarily due to the size of the game but when each skill does so little they feel unimportant the only skill you use a lot is handiwork for upgrading weapons (i rarely used consumables but that probably had something to do with the fact i was on a low difficulty) also we don't know what the highest skill req is meaning we might pump up a skill way beyond what is needed wasting sill points which would be bad if skills were important which they are not, so maybe add a max skill level?

4.tell us the max level so we can plan out a build knowing our limit

5.maybe have the training enemy show the damage calculation so you can go there to learn what to expect from attacks and weapon

yeah my biggest problems are a lack of ways for the player to find out bout game mechanics and the size of the game making certain game mechanics shallow

but overall fun game fun story looking  forward to if you have anything else to make

do you get anything special for sparing the goo girl that has jii'kii i tried but could not manage to do it am i missing something or am  i fine?

Nothing particularly special, no! Just a different end to the fight, no scene unlock or anything like that. Don't worry about it.

thanks

even though i have 2 handiwork skill i cant give a zipper arm cannon a core booster says i have insufficient handiwork but it says it only requires 2 and before then it wasnt until i got more mats than needed that the message switched from not enough resources to not enough handiwork

Whoops, mistake on my end, it was set to 3. Will be fixed for next patch.

where does a Code Moo monster appear?

It's involved in the sidequest to rescue Professor Blankenship. It does not appear outside of this - it's a 'maybe someday' update goal.

(+2)

Great game, only took two evenings/sessions to complete but the level, fight, and character designs as well as the writing were all superb.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Does anyone know the code to the door of B3?

It's randomized every time you play. You need to find the individual portions of the code, all of which can be found in the northern sector past the firs Checkpoint gate.

(+2)

I just stumbled upon this the other day and 100%'d it as soon as I could! It was an absolute pleasure to play, and I think it really builds upon some similar gameplay structures like that of TiTs or LT. The writing was by far my favorite part, each scenario was so well written, and the characters were so much fun ^^

(+2)

Thank you very much for the kind words! ♥ I'm thrilled you enjoyed it that much. :)

Maybe I'm blind, but... Where is the fantasize menu? Is it in-game, or do I have to quit to access it?

Go to the Repair module back in the storage module! It's under those options, as mentioned by B4B3. Repair > Fantasize, as it's a method of restoring Focus.

You can either get it done with quickly, or use it as a thematic link to the gallery - hence, the Fantasize menu. Also thematically reframes them as fantasies, which can make some more hardcore content more digestible for some people.

Enjoy!

is there pregnancy content and if so how do i get it?

Pregnancy themes appear in a few Bad End scenes. You can unlock these for viewing at any time by beating their related encounters... or by losing to them, but this may cut your journey short!

There is no impregnation/pregnancy/birthing content outside of these scenes, given the scope of the game and the limited timeframe in which it takes place. you're well catered for, however: at a rough count, I think at least five scenes contain breeding as a theme.

(+1)

This is a great game! Scope is limited enough that it actually finishes (with Epilogue!) and since beating an encounter unlocks the loss scenes, there's no need to throw fights to see the content.

If I could add one thing, it would be lovense integration. (Or better yet, a Tentaco-brand peripheral custom made to let you really feel what your character does.)

(+2)

Glad you enjoyed it!

Can't say I've ever run across any Twine games with that sort of integration before! Wouldn't know where to start. As for a truly authentic TentaCo peripheral, that would require funding and some superscience, alas.

(+2)

Alas. 😭

(1 edit) (+3)

I feel both envious and ecstatic.

Envious because I am in the process of writing the same kind of story. Ecstatic because that's a really, really good game, with much more content and fluff that I expected.

I'll give a full review once I've finished the game, but for now I have a lot of fun.

(+2)

Glad to hear you're enjoying it! And best of luck with your own project! ♥
